user picture of milky tea milky tea: no tootsie yet? get on that. jan 11 2009
user picture of hogansdonuts hogansdonuts: I will.
user picture of milky tea milky tea: excellent. how long have you been working on this? i'm impressed.
user picture of hogansdonuts hogansdonuts: Actively, a little less than a year. In the past 4 months I've been trying to balance my American movies with catching up on essential foreign films. If you have any recommendations, American or foreign, send them on.
user picture of milky tea milky tea: that's fantastic. well i'm aussie so can definitely recommend some australian ones if youre interested. and if youre australian, nevermind me. feel free to share some of your essential foreign if you like, i'd love that.
user picture of hogansdonuts hogansdonuts: I don't think I've seen any Australian films which is unfortunate, but I guess it is fortuitous that you commented on my list. My foreign film knowledge is most definitely sparse considering my professed love of film. One of the best films I've ever seen was M, a late German Expressionist movie from Fritz Lang. It is really quite phenomenal, especially Lang's hold over the dramatic tension in the film. I could go on for quite a while about M, and if you have seen it, forgive me.
user picture of milky tea milky tea: Great, M is on my list of one's to see. I skipped it to the top of my queue based on your recommendation. I'm looking forward to it. I'm going to catch you up with the Aussie films. There are a lot of flops but a lot of gems too. Start with: Japanese Story; Lantana and Little Fish. Strictly Ballroom (ignore the many recent bad tv dancing shows and trust me!); The Castle; Muriel's Wedding; The Dish; Prisilla, The Adventures of Queen of the Desert - these ones are kinda quirky and dear to my heart. For a scare there's Wolf Creek and for an older one (because I just realised that most of these are kind of recent) go with Picnic at Hanging Rock. I also just realised how much Toni Collette there is in there too. But she's fantastic. Let me know how you get on! jan 14 2009
