inside
- wooden floors
- the only clutter is books, old books, holding up lamps and glasses of water
- chipped tile
- peeling printed wallpaper from the previous owner; too nostalgic and delicate to remove
- mint green painted walls, faded
- claw foot tub, heavy flawed porcelain
- mason jars as drinking glasses
- rescued cast iron skillets
- some turquoise
- muddy wellies by the door
- spice cabinet stuffed with saffron and ginger and cayenne pepper
- big bay windows with cushions + pillows
- a secret passage
- origami creatures strung from the ceiling
- an old typewriter at an old desk with calligraphy pens and printed paper, for long letters
- art on the walls in big, ornate frames (found on the side of the road) → all the beautiful artwork my friends create, sumi-e paintings and hitsuzendo works, things from my aunt tina's attic
- fire place
- poems scrawled on walls
outside
- a porch, a café-style table and a swing — for reading, watching the rain, sleeping
- moss and ivy coating the outside
- big, venerable trees, with a treehouse
- at least one weeping willow, and it shall have a grand name
- clotheslines
- big, big garden full of herbs, vegetables and flowers to attract the butterflies, perhaps even a small, small orchard with a couple plum trees and apple trees
- rough, handmade windchimes made out of anything and everything
- near a lake and/or river, and close enough to smell the sea
- birdhouses
- woods
- a long, long road
