• Cycling up and down the same road every evening (because it's the only proper road there is)
    • Sometimes singing our hearts out
  • Running from the warmth of the sauna into the cold water, breaking the stillness around us with screams of joy and surprise (we never remember how cold the water really is)
  • Swimming while it's raining, diving and hearing the raindrops dancing on the surface of the lake
  • Eating (far too many) delicious pancakes with jam
  • Playing badminton, noticing it's too windy, continuing in a futile effort anyway
  • Waving hello to passing cars, even if you have no idea who they are
    • Or, waiting on the road until you hear a car, then jump into the bush to hide (cheap thrills yes, but we'll take anything we get)
  • Going to the village shop, buying ice cream and lemonade and smiling politely when the owner tells stories (we never really know what he's saying)
  • Blushing when the boys from the army drive by, waving and whistling (it's fun to pretend we're living in the thirties)
  • Listening to grandma's stories, though I've heard them before I love hearing them again (and again)
  • Fog rising from the lake at night, everything is so quiet and magical
