even though i'm half way through it, hijikata just..reminds me a hell lot of me . so this is a personal favoured arc of mine .
a life lesson i learnt from this arc: "when you fell in love with him, didn't you fall in love with his soul ?" when Gintoki said it like that it REALLY hit me and made me re-evaluate what love is and what should be; it's one of the most loveliest quotes i've ever heard on love . apart from that, what they did when they thought they were 'alone' seriously never fails to make me laugh each and every time .
which gintama fan DOESN'T love this arc ? of course, it's solely for the fact that it's one of the few BIG plot developers of the story . their past as the Joui 4 reminds me of a lot of my past friendships and what not; "I hate you, past and present...but I thought that we were comrades . Past and present ."
hijikata did something i found really hard to do . so i like this arc for the fact that someone actually understands his actions because...it's hard . very hard . especially when youre the only one that understands [hijikata is very lucky to have sougo there] .
"But what happens when your ally is also your enemy ? Some things aren't meant to be known, little girl ." Not only is this arc a MAJORRRRRRRRR okiKagu ship [thankyou sorachi-sensei~] but i like the fact that the shinsengumi do things the way i do . :P it shows that this world just isn't black and white .
because tbh, i absolutely adore Otose for the woman that she is, so this arc really got to me ! I love the fact that she, as the damsel in distress, isn't some pretty young thing that the protagonist is trying to get with . the relationship between her and Gintoki is more than surface level and i loved the fact that Sorachi really reiterated that saving someone isn't just because you romatically love them . I know what it's like to look up and respect someone like your own parent, and how you'd be willing to do anything for them . the title 'Empress Otose' really suits her, because i think she's one of the most amazing female characters .i've come across . i respect her to heckkk .
i think, the way i'll say goodbye to my friends before i travel, should be like this . this arc taught me something that i really believe; no matter where i am or what i'm doing, if you're who i consider a friend, then no matter where i am that is what i'll always be . it's one of my favourite arcs because, i don't exactly think people understand how the person who's leaving feels, and thinks that all they want to do is leave . it's more than that, and the Renho Arc illustrate what real life and real friendship is wonderfully ...and when elizabeth was crying i just wanted to hug him/her/it . :(
