things i like about my apartment

• my neighborhood is full of cute houses and storefronts
• trips to the convenient store for emergency drinks and snacks / bob, the owner, who has a crush on me and lets me use his shovel when my car gets plowed in
• the main hallways are painted the same color as "macaroni + cheese" crayola crayons
• dark wood floors and high ceilings
• sunny south-facing windows good for my plants
• people-watching from my kitchen table / all the weird things that happen in the convenient store parking lot
• the sound of church bells every hour
• random glimpses into everyday life in buildings across the street: a fluffy black cat sunning in a curtained window, a guy who walks around with two tiny dogs sticking out of either side of his hoodie pocket, people in the unit with color changing christmas lights and the news on TV at all hours of the day
• it's the first place i've ever lived by myself, without a significant other or parent, that i've gotten to decorate by myself without any compromise

things i don't like

• mysterious disappearing hot water
• unreliable steam heat in winter / haunted radiators; will my living room be 50º or 80º when i get home from work? it's a surprise!
• management is THE WORST. expect any repairs to be done incorrectly and 3 to 4 days late.
• slumlord logic like nailing a kitchen drawer completely shut instead of just fixing the sliding track
• my refrigerator door doesn't close unless you nudge it with your foot and now i instinctively kick every fridge door i come into contact with
• drafty windows
