Refurbish & mod amp Fender Ultimate Chorus stereo combo amp

• amp can draw 360w from wall. Speakers only use 130w.
• 8-string (around F#, about one octave down from a standard 6-hstring guitar) and downtuned guitars for metal, need to handle lower tunings without trampling the bass
• for solo & band practice + shows indoors & outside
• amp cost $170, needs some maitanence.
• it's from early 90's. New speakers would be a huge improvement but, current ones are good enough for right now.

NEEDS:

• 6x new ¼" jacks for inputs & FX loop
• clean knobs/pots
• open and clean reverb box?

Major improvement:

• replace 2x 12" 8ohm 65w Fender stock speakers
  • 1x ≥30w 4Ω 12" for low + low mid freqs,
  • 1x ≥25w 4Ω 10" or 12" for mids,
  • 1x ≥10w 4Ω tweeter highs?
  • big speakers wired in parallel
  • tweeter wired in series of mid speaker
• wire adaptor for speaker wire to ¼" plug
• seperate L+R ¼" jacks inside amp cabinet for amplifer and external cabinet
  • or, instead for recording
  • thus ability to continue using stereo with only the amplifer cab & easy connect/disconnect
• A/B/Y splitter box with XLRs + TRS for PA?
• build second cabinet with salvaged wood
  • add back to amp with air exhaust hole(s)
  • clean, stain wood, etch & burn
• cut speaker holder in half
  • second 10"-12" speaker + tweeter sits at upward angle
• NOTE: 10" speaker to ensure space for tweeter. Might still be better to go with 2x 12" in each cab
• crossover rack inside back of cabinet, recessed facing out
  • split speakers after going through 2-3ch crossover unit
• capacitors at 1khz and 22khz for hard cut
  • tweeter low capacitor for 10khz?
  • (more research needed)

Very handy mods:

• tie chorus knob(s) (rate and/or width) to footswitch TRS jack
• reroute chorus footswitch on/off button to jack for expression pedal click
  • same for reverb and/or overdrive?
• rayon/nylon? + cotton pattern cloths screwed in + G-ring for cable management
• standby power button on amp

Other notes/questions:

• can amp (be made to) push more wattage to speakers for db & vol?
  • thus expand made into 2x i.e. 4x12s later
