Pro:
- Freedom from parents
- Independence
- Not having to put up with my teenage sister’s angst and my parents’ arguing
- Being able to walk to uni… 30-40mins
- Buses that come regularly to the city
- Cool folk that have good taste in music, films, politics
- The Greens corflute attached to our front fence
- Appreciating my parents more
- It’s better than most sharehouses I’ve heard about
- Being able to see my friends whenever without having to ask my parents to go out
- Pretty cool housemates
- Not living in the western suburbs!
Con:
- Cockroaches running on our kitchen bench
- (Three) Mice running into the kitchen to steal muesli
- I’ve seen more insects living there for three weeks than I have in my whole life
- Opening the fridge I share with one other housemate, discovering open plates and cans, and two cockroaches INSIDE the fridge
- Being too scared to cook anything because of hygiene
- Doing my bit on the cleaning roster PLUS other people’s then having it messy and dirty again a couple hours later
- Having to deal with the mess AND dirtiness
- Always having to wear havianas around the house because I’m afraid I’ll step on a cockroach or pop-bug
- People who don’t clean up after themselves!!
- Dusty, dusty dusty…. in fact, I have asthma again according to the doctor today. It’s been almost ten years since I last used a puffer
- Missing my cats terribly
