Now that my iPod earphones have broken, I get to sit on the bus every morning with my giant cheap looking Property of British Airways (incraft entertainment aircraft use only) earphones... which I have to admit to liking, not only for their ear-muff qualities. I've been listening to, in no particular order:

  • Jason Burnstick - I just love this guy
  • Beach House - I rediscovered them on my iPod on one of the rare occasions it was on shuffle (ask me about listening to the entire record if you're wondering). My favorite songs of theirs are (again, in no particular order):
    • Wedding Bell
    • Saltwater
    • You Came to Me
    • Turtle Island
    • Holy Dances
    • All the Years
    • Astronaut
  • Lou Reed - SAFETY ZONE! Wind Coda on the myspace link is also very cool. Lou Reed is the reason I like Stephen Malkmus so much, his voice reminds me of Lou Reeds' (uhoh, hope I got that apostrophe s right, eh svava)
  • Joy Division - always amazing, good to do lame basement workouts on the ellyptical to
  • The Doors - Suuuch a great band, but they've started making me sad, Jim Morrison (rip) reminds me too much of sad stuff last year, People Are Strange reminds me of France
  • and, while doing recent History readings: John Fahey - his music is so soothing. The Yellow Princess is a good classic, otherwise the songs on my iPod aren't titled, unfortunately, and I'm far too lazy to look them all up.
  • And, as usual, (because I'd be lying if I didn't put them in) TOM WAITS and NEIL YOUNG
