- three days hiking in landmannalaugar. no words, just awe & sweat & winded lungs & otherworldly beauty
- getting my period mid-hike 1st day
- soaking in a hot spring w a divacup in
- changing & stealth-cleaning my divacup in a shared all-gender bathroom, then taking the most perfect shit of my entire life
- crossing a creek to reach a plain bw mountains on the way to brennisteinsalda, soaking in the panoramic view & feeling so stunned & lifted & far from fear. high point of the tour & pure heaven
- cute guide w little prince & dune "fear is the mind killer" tattoos
- nice chats & discovering shared interests w other tour-goers
- sleeping in a room w 11 other people & it not being as bad as i thought it'd be
- three days w no wifi, cell service, or showering. the calmness of being off-grid
- back in reykjavík browsing mini art galleries/shops on laugavegur
- eating a donut croissant in close view of hallgrímskirkja
- reykjavík art museum
- riding the ferris wheel on the waterfront
- so many (10!) magical sightings of street cats(!) some of whom let me pet them(!!)
- walking in quiet neighborhoods & stumbling on a street where some kind of white fluff was floating through the air, which i later realized was pollen being blown off a nearby tree. how surreal it looked, like snow on a summer day. then peering into a courtyard & finding an absolutely beautiful cat
- passing by the graveyard, how dense & bent & shadowy the trees were, how calm & also how gloomy
- walking around a waterfront park following the adventures of a free range kitten, climbing to the top of a rope tower & going on another zipline
- 11+ hrs of walking & wandering w the sun still bright, not wanting the day to end
