- amazing architecture!
- such peace & hope found in humanity when thousands of people gather on picnic blankets on the great lawn to listen to classical music in central park (there have been many peaceful crowds here)
- free furniture & books in everyone's trash
- moving through the busy city streets on a warm night and feeling safe and calm
- fireflies! they are the coolest. i have an enormous crush on them.
- they'll give you health insurance even if you have a crappy body
- not having to drive a car & support the oil industry as much
- local neighborhood mom & pop business economy
- the energy and synergy of the city
- because there is a rather rotund man on our street who stands with a boombox at night by himself and sings obscure 80s songs like Pretty Poison's "Catch Me I'm Falling"
- walking everywhere, esp with our pizza slices from the west village home to the east village
- seeing spontaneous fireworks over manhattan from a brooklyn bar on the water
- randomly coming across friendly punk rock shows in tomkins square park
- seeing film crews all over the city lighting up the night skies
- realizing at 4:55pm that i have a hair appt at 5pm, running there and still making it on time
- smiles from strangers & rich street personalities
- free events everywhere! like the movie screenings my cousin paula told us about, moving screenings outdoors on the water in chelsea, concerts in the park, and festivals
- being able to eat late dinners
- visiting my friend matt & salma in brooklyn and discovering they live next door to where dave chapelle threw his block party or seeing other film sites
- abundance of vegetarian foods available in the village (list coming soon)
- t-shirts at night!
- seasons!!! it really does feel nice to know changes are coming.
- the spirit of creativity and culture
- i love the silence right before a heavy snow storm, like the city is waiting for it in silence
- the snow but not the slush
- the first sign of spring that seems to take over the city and happen in an instant
- the variety of people in the east village
- the abundance of amazing restaurants
- running a bunch of errands with adam yesterday and not having to get into a car or subway once!! (pet shop, hardware store, groceries, pharmacy, best buy, etc....amazing!!!)
- small independently owned shops and boutiques (& no tax on clothing)
- pretty models everywhere in cute little outfits
- sexy men that look european
- kate's joint homemade veggie burgers
- huge rains and thunderstorms in 80 degree weather
- being close to east coast friends
