Beatrix is thought to be from Viatrix, a feminine form of the Late Latin name Viator meaning "voyager, traveller". It was altered in the middle ages to be associated with the Latin beatus meaning "blessed, happy".

It makes me think of the soft illustrations of Beatrix Potter, tea parties, pretty and soft Jersey cows, and flowering meadows. This is a name that Jay really likes and is on the list of names he'd actually want to use as well so it sparkles a bit brighter in my eyes. I'm not allowed to mention any negative associations lest I taint the name for him!
