- em's first response to seeing my dad for the first time: "you look like him"
- family friends say i'm a smaller version or a "spitting image" of him
- my mom says i act a lot like him, not really a compliment, but accurate
- dark hair, dark eyes
- narrow, squinty eyes, especially when we smile
- long, dark eyelashes and thick eyebrows
- resting scowl
- quiet, reserved, and apparently intimidating until we get excited about something
- basically the 🧍♂️ 🗿 emojis in most situations (undiagnosed autism)
- hot-headed
- strong chin / jawline
- avoiding eye contact
- sarcastic and overly critical
- small moles on our faces and backs
- bad vision (thanks for that)
- unemotional and what little emotions we have we constantly repress
- uncomfortable with showing we care but it comes through in little ways, like always having time for the people we care about, and always trying to give genuine advice / help
- my dad is like a mirror for my worst habits, for example, [doesn't verbalize affection, pride, or love] "what do you mean you can't tell i care about you? isn't it obvious???" (it isn't)
- in reality, we both have a soft and extremely nerdy / goofy side that comes out with people we care about in the right situations
- he's a hobby photographer, i'm a hobby artist. i think we both have a philosophy of finding beauty in the world around us, especially nature. but i've always loved sketching animals and he loves landscapes: sunsets over the prairies and waterfalls in the mountains.
- dislikes crowds and interacting with new people
- likes good movies, documentaries, and literature
- live to learn, more than anything
- he's a cowboy at heart who fancies himself a city boy and i'm a city boy at heart who fancies myself a cowboy... he grew up on the farm, i only spent summers and weekends there, jumping hay bales and feeding chickens as a kid
- night owls with irregular sleep schedules
- get absorbed in problems and start getting so focused we forget to do anything else
- practical to a fault
- considered "intelligent" by others but in different ways, my dad is highly mechanical and engineering-minded whereas i'm highly literate and philosophical
- raised catholic but mostly agnostic / atheist now
- extremely online gamers, he started me young on his ps2
- both had an extremely goofy bowl cut when we were little (which only furthers the resemblance between young me and young him)
- lean, with long, deft fingers, although my dad is definitely beefier than i am and always has been from working on the farm (he's taller too)
- sharing music, movie, and book recommendations as a love language
- we both like formula 1, although this is kind of cheating because he got me into it. part of our quality time is yelling at the tv together on race days, and looking at lap time scatter plots like the dweebs we are.
- he calls me a tifoso, but neither of us really root for any team or driver heavily, we're just here for the entertainment.
- flannel pyjama pants and white t-shirt combo. i think the first time i wore this my first thought was "i look like my dad"
