—— Pastor Josh Baker | "Take It To Go" | (follow along) | Jul. 28, 2024
- Matthew 5:6
- ↪ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
- Church isn't just for Sunday, we're supposed to take it to go.
- Matthew 28:18-20
- ↪ Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
- Being a Christian is not about you and your faith. The Good News was never meant to be kept to yourself.
- 2 Timothy 2:2
- ↪ And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.
WHAT HAVE I LEARNED SO FAR IN THIS SERIES?
- HOLY HUNGER
- God instructs us to be Holy as He is Holy.
- Desire a Holy life, flee from sin.
- Feed your spirit with the right things.
- Following Jesus will help guide us as we live a Holy life.
- THIRST FOR TRUTH
- The Bible is truth.
- Jesus is truth.
- Truth leads to purpose but it always changes perspective.
- Study the truth.
- RIGHTEOUS RECIPES
- Living a God righteous life and not a self-righteous life.
- Do the things God is calling us to do, not what we want to do for ourselves.
- The right ingredients that go into living a God righteous life.
- NOT BREAD ALONE
- The word of God will sustain us and our life.
- We cannot live without God's word.
- We live off of the Bread of Life.
- In every situation and circumstance, we can depend on God's word to get us through and get us exactly what we need.
- FILLED TO THE FULL
- We shouldn't settle for "enough" of God.
- We should want all of God.
- We should properly position ourselves for the outpour of the Lord.
- Mark 6:30-44
- ↪ The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things. By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and it’s already very late. Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” But he answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?” “How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.” Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.
- The people were satisfied. Meaning they had all they needed and then some.
- God will always provide for us.
- Our problems aren't problems to God.
- Deuteronomy 31:8
- ↪ The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
- God knows every problem you're going to face
- God has already made a way.
- There will be no problem that will overtake us.
- If we have a problem that feels too big, it's probably not your problem to manage. It's Gods.
- 1 Peter 5:7
- ↪ Give all your worries to him, because he cares about you.
- God can do a lot with a little.
- Mark 6:41
- ↪ Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all.
- God doesn't want to just "do enough", He wants to leave you satisfied.
- God works through us.
- Mark 6:37
- ↪ But he answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?”
- Trust God for your distribution.
- Jesus broke the bread and blessed it and the twelve distributed it. That means when they were done passing around the bread and fish, they had to continuously come back to Jesus to get their fill. Relying on God for distribution and handing out what is received.
HOW DO WE TAKE IT TO GO?
- SHARE THE BIBLE
- The Bible is the truth of His word
- Iron sharpens iron. We have the same spirit living inside of us. If God is giving you a revelation of scripture, you should share it with other people. It's how we can help each other grow.
- Sharing the Bible can be as simple as sharing your testimony.
- GO AND SHARE YOUR GIFTS
- Discipleship is really about helping people take next steps.
- GO AND SHARE YOUR CHURCH
- Think of what God has done for you and in your life in the church.
- KEEP GROWING
- Grow in grace and knowledge.
- Stop coming to church and leaving the bread (the word) there. We have to take it to go, share it with everyone. Don't receive the word and keep it to yourself.
