Day Before Birthday

  • Start morning with serious case of birthday blues. Cry heartily for about ten minutes. Feel remarkabley better afterwards.
  • A lovely card and beautiful glass necklace arrive from my in-laws.
  • Sweet husband gives me a "birthday eve" gift - a guide to adobe indesign, which had been driving me round the bend!
  • Lentil soup for lunch. Lentil soup with toast, cheese and a sprinkling of salt is a seriously good comfort food.
  • Go for a really lovely walk around a local garden. Fresh air, trees and the frozen pond see me shaking off the last of the birthday blues!
  • Finish up with a cappucino and a slice of home-made victoria sponge in the restaurant
  • Arrive home to a beautiful bunch of flowers from my in-laws!
  • Spend rest of afternoon chilling out and playing on the computer.
  • Decided that for my birthday dinner I'd love a chinese, and our local takeaway is closed Tuesdays! So, I elect for early birthday dinner and very nice it is too.
    • Young chow fried rice
    • Mushroom chop suey
    • Chicken and cashew nuts
    • Mini spring rolls
    • Enjoyed while watching the X Files and Friends
  • Watch a program about the sex industry in Prague.
    • This quite seriously makes me realise how many blessings I have in my life and how little to bitch about.
  • Have a long and interesting conversation with my husband about what is really important in life.
  • Come to some realisations about this just as the clock reaches midnight and I am officially 30.
  • Am informed that I can now open a present! As we already have tickets to go and see Rhydian, I really didn't expect more presents. I feel very spoiled!
    • Gift turns out to be a gorgeous, slender black MP3 player. And if that weren't enough, it has two new albums uploaded onto it ready for me!
    • One of them is the official soundtrack of Mama Mia :)
    • The other is "Bare" by Wayne Hussey. Trust me, this is going to be a little slice of heaven.
    • I immediately fire up the computer so I can download the files from my husband's computer and listen to Bare. Tempted to use new mp3 player but really want to share it with husband!
  • 12:41 AM, eating biscuits, drinking redbush tea and listening to Bare. Am making this list and realising that my life isn't what I thought.
    • It isn't a mess.
    • It's full of blessings.
    • Reaching 30 is a blessing.
