I found these fics in my ao3's bookmarks and I literally forgot almost all of them, but if I bookmarked them I suppose they are somewhat good ??? also there's a lot of them and maybe this could be useful to someone, so I'm making this list to share them ✨

  • Waiting for John | 3k | Sherlock has worked with NSY for a year and not once has he given any indication that he can even have a friend - let alone a significant other. So when he mentions someone named John, what kind of freakish alien creature must this person be to have an actual RELATIONSHIP with the man?
  • rumbles and flashes of light | 2k | John is not particularly fond of thunderstorms. Sherlock suspects--knows, really--that it’s one of many souvenirs from his time crouching behind walls, seeking cover from bullets and IEDs.
  • Obscurity | 7k | Because words were magic, because they only would come out when they had the right feel and sound, he couldn’t say simple things like: Dad, leave Harry alone for once or Hey, Amy, do you fancy coming out to dinner with me?
  • Just Transport | 4k | Sherlock deduces a very interesting man on the tube one day, and starts to take public transport more often. Which is, of course, just a coincidence.
  • Finding John | 5k | Sherlock Holmes has met exactly twenty-four Johns in his life. They have all been the wrong John. He's getting tired of waiting, staring at the inscription on his finger and wondering when his John will turn up, if ever.
  • We Go Anywhere But To The Ground | 24k | Every second that ticks by is a reminder of the deafening quiet Sherlock has left behind. John feels his soul slip out of his fingertips, inch by inch, with every passing day. At some point, he stops trying to hold on.
  • When Skies Are Hanged | 7k | There’s always something, of course— sister-not-brother, botox-not-tetanus, but alive-not-dead, that’s not your garden-variety blunder. John crawled on hands and knees through the five stages of grief— raw skin, ragged fingernails and all. Turns out they were listed wrong, John should’ve swapped the first and last, and isn’t this a fucking epiphany, that he was closer to the truth when he was in denial. A Post-Reichenbach fix-it, in which Sherlock returns and John battles with the unsaid.
  • Bed-Sharing Between Flatmates | 5k | 5 times Sherlock had an excuse to share John's bed, and the one time he didn't need one.
  • Assurance | 2k | It’s not so much the ‘you’re half-dead, you wanker,’ or even the broken ribs, the hairline fracture of the pelvis, the dislocated shoulder and knee, and the wrenched ankle.
  • Where We're Meeting | 41k | Months after John Watson is invalided back from Afghanistan he meets a stranger on a train; one that can read his military career in his face and leg and his brother’s drinking habits in his mobile phone. Then, years earlier, he meets him again.
  • Back to the Start | 14k | Sherlock hasn't played the violin since John's wedding (which is long since over), and when John returns to 221B, Sherlock relearns the violin as he and John relearn each other. Post S3 fic with an obscene amount of pining, idiocy, and attempts to pawn off tea duties.
  • The Scent of Home | 3k | John comes back to 221b and Sherlock’s world feels complete again. Even the flat smells right, both of their scents mixing together to make it home.
  • In A Changing Age | 15k | Sherlock wakes up in the 19th century, with no idea how he got there.
  • A New Kind of Communication | 10k | Sherlock texts, Sherlock leaves notes, Sherlock phones John, and he never really says anything.
  • Vena Cava | 27k | Sherlock has been shot in the chest; John has been shot in the heart. Though everything is broken, they do their best to heal the wounds that Mary left on them both.
  • What I Hide By My Language, My Body Utters | 9k | Based on a prompt from Tumblr user thetwogaydetectives - "fake relationship that ends up being so real, they finally realize they are in love." Probably not EXACTLY what she was looking for... but, eh, my muse has its own kinks to fulfill.
  • In the cherry blossom's shade | 3k | "This isn’t new. Sherlock has already done this – has gone through cities, and dingy hotels, and sleepless nights but it was different before. John wasn’t there before. They’re in this together."
  • Stay Awake | 9k | Sherlock can feel the tenuous threads of this conversation shuddering under the strain of all the unspoken words. His eyes narrow as he gazes up at John, noting the residual tension in his shoulders, the dark circles under his lower lids, and the way he is avoiding Sherlock’s eyes like a bi-polarized magnet. He knows John Watson inside and out, like the perfectly balanced coils and gears of a beautifully balanced grandfather clock, and yet John keeps surprising him. It’s uncanny, the way he keeps on being so utterly and wonderfully unpredictable.
  • Turbulence in the Sky | 2k | "But some things needed to stay secret. Or at least, that was what he told himself every time he lost his nerve."
  • Gone to Feed the Roses (Elegant and Curled) | 18k | ohn Watson is no one's weeping widow, and he knows that it's not impossible to cheat death.
  • And as the seasons change, I love you more | 3k | A year in the lives of John and Sherlock, essentially
  • Just a Scribble on your Wrist | 13k | Sherlock entered the flat first, Adrenaline still flooding his system from the running he threw his coat on to the rack before suddenly finding himself pressed up against the closed door with John's lips on his own. This was new. Very new. (An AU where everyone has their soulmates name written on their wrist. Unfortunately it looks like an unreadable scribble and only your soulmate can read their own name on your wrist.)
  • There's Someone On Your Shoulder | 41k | Sherlock trips and falls head over heels in love, makes a lot of lists and stares, stares, stares.
  • A Hesitation Waltz | 5k | He lets the vibrato speak for him: love and loss, triumph and failure, longing for water and a bit of rest after so long a journey. He would follow John into the desert, walk through fire, sacrifice to any God. He would gladly kneel at John’s feet, if only given the chance, and worship him with each breath. (A post-series 4 ficlet about John and Sherlock relearning one another.)
  • Undeniably a Romantic | 1k | A visit to where it all started sets them on the path they were always meant to travel.
  • Ten Years | 28k | A friend tells Rosie Watson that her parents aren't together for real, because they don't kiss. But we do, John says.
  • A Thousand (and John doesn't want any of them) | 2k | One day John Watson comes home and finds a dead man in his living room.
  • The Real Meaning of Idioms | 21k | After two weeks away, John finally texts Sherlock. He doesn't expect Sherlock to respond. He doesn't expect Sherlock to keep texting him. And he really doesn't expect things to spiral out of control so rapidly.
  • As I Love You | 1k | "When John sticks his hand in his jacket pocket, all he expects to find are keys and maybe a few coins rattling around. What he does not expect to find is a card." John is led where he's meant to go.
  • The Internet Is Not Just For Porn | 1k | John is Sherlock's internet boyfriend - from CANADA. No one thinks he's real.
  • Open Your Mouth | 5k | “You want it, don’t you? You want to breathe it in, want to feel it burning your lungs, want a bit of me,” Sherlock lifted his left hand and traced John’s bottom lip with his thumb, “inside of you.”
  • Unspoken | 1k
  • Many Unexpected Skills | 4k | “So … dancing lessons, eh?” Seeing John there, standing at the door in the context of their old life together, makes Sherlock beam. He argues with his face to tame the obscene earnestness of his smile, but he loses the fight. “Hello, John.” ... Have you any idea how much I miss you?
  • Seventeen Letters | 2k | "I love Sherlock," John says out loud, testing how the words feel in his mouth. It doesn't change anything. Sherlock's still the pillock who fiddled with his computer password.
  • Let You Kiss Me (So Sweet and So Soft) | 8k | The first time Sherlock kisses him, John keeps his eyes open, and so does Sherlock, and mostly, he wonders what Sherlock could possibly be up to. There'll be some logic to this. Some ridiculous experiment about body warmth or respiratory rates or testing a new way of picking pockets. Sherlock does the unimaginable for bizarre reasons, but behind it, there's always logic and curiosity. Sometimes, it just takes him a while to explain it to John.
  • Duvet (green) | 2k | Sherlock recalibrates and restructures his mind palace so it looks like 221b. What he chooses to put in John's room is a bit of a surprise, and a revelation.
  • and stand there at the edge of my affection | 2k | "You've written love letters," Sherlock asserted.
  • The In-Between | 10k | Beginning in a Chinese restaurant and ending at the bottom of a well, what about the moments we didn’t see?
  • The Curious Adventure of the Drs. Watson | 40k | What if ACD Watson and BBC Watson switched places . . . “Imposter!” Hands clenching the lapels of John’s coat, Holmes shoved him anew. “Yes!” John agreed, nodding, and then grimacing. “Sort of!”
  • A Preference for Texting | 7k | Sherlock and John have some of their most important conversations while texting.
  • the lingering taste of orange juice | 5k | Sherlock felt the familiar heat surge in his abdomen again at the touch: hope strung taut between head and heart as in all the quiet moments between them, when Sherlock sometimes got the clues all mixed up and thought maybe John felt something too. For once, Sherlock is the idiot.
  • Haven | 2k | John has been home 12 days, 14 hours, 45 min, and—10 seconds. Sherlock has felt every second in his bones, his cells, his atoms. He has felt them like a unexpected blessing, and an impending death sentence. He can’t believe that John is here. He sits and he watches John sleep on the sofa, in the middle of the day—feet bare, afghan tucked up under his chin, face lax, but brow still perpetually furrowed—and he feels his chest swell, and ache to the point where he sometimes fears his heart will stop beating altogether, and he will let John down—still, again, after everything…
  • The River Variations | 11k | John Watson never knew that he wanted a ‘no toast in the mornings’ normal until he realized what an honor it is to be destroyed by Sherlock Holmes.
  • In Need of Quiet Affection and Gentle Words | 16k | After John's girlfriend (of sorts) sends him an online sex guide, John finds himself more intrigued by the guide's author than anything his girlfriend might have had in mind.
  • A Terrific Soporific | 11k | Sherlock, a long-time sufferer of insomnia, is forced to share a bed with John at a hotel while on a case. To his astonishment, he finds that spending the night next to John helps him sleep and becomes determined to maneuver himself back into John's bed.
  • 34 Minutes | 4k | An experiment in eye contact.
  • Level 65 Paladin Looking for Group | 10k | "I think I met someone," John says at his next therapist's appointment. "A friend." "Really?" Ella asks. She sounds pleased, and also surprised. "What's his name?" John nods. "Really. His name's Sherlock. He -- he plays the same game as me, the online one. We party together."
  • Carte Blanche | 6k | John has written an earnest confession when he thought he was near death. But he doesn't die. The confession is in a notebook burning a hole in his pocket. What to do?
  • A Visit To The Doctor | 28k | When Watson gets ill, Holmes goes to extraordinary lengths to get him well again. (ACD/BBC crossover.)
  • Two Coffees One Black One with Sugar Please | 25k | A somewhat pointless experiment on Sherlock's behalf leads to John having to re-evaluate pretty much his entire life.
  • What He's Like | 2k | "I'm so in love with you," John says, a statement of fact. "I will never not be in love with you." Realistic first time. They love each other so much.
  • Sussex | 26k | John can't seem to stop touching Sherlock. He can push the anger away, but sometimes he just needs to take Sherlock's pulse again. Slight angst, case-fic, post-Reichenbach.
  • Eggs and Toast and Love Confessions | 10k | These two really are such idiots, but they figure it out in the end.
  • The Declaration | 540 | Sherlock realises that he's in love with John.
