  • The Rush of the Sea by rednights | T| 33k | After the clock stops, Newt goes on the vacation he’s always said he wanted, and quickly remembers how much he hates to be alone. Thankfully, Hermann interprets a friendly you should come! as an invitation, and together they navigate a sea that is much less inviting after what they’ve seen come out of it, and relearn how to live. (or: I wanted to write a summer beach fic and this is what happened.)
  • After Uprising by Avelera | 34k | A series of loosely related prompts set immediately post-Uprising. Newt recovers in PPDC custody and Hermann keeps him company.
  • the sun will rise (and we will try again) by archerdelalune | T | 35k | I thought Uprising was........ not great. So not great, in fact, that I took a year of my life to rewrite the whole thing in a way that I like better, even if no one else does. Contains: no child soldiers, a non-fridged role for Mako, gay content, and a plot written by someone who at least saw Pacific Rim (2013), which I'm convinced no one on the Uprising team actually bothered to do.
  • Unexpected Side Effects by MaidenofIron157 | T | 10k | Newton’s thoughts were there, swirling like a thick fog between his own thinner, sharper ones and making him dizzy. He couldn’t block them out, and not for lack of trying, because Newton’s ninety-fourth rendition of Queen’s “We Are The Champions” had become grating, and his one hundred and sixty-eighth almost nauseating, if he hadn’t already vomited in the last few hours, even if the first fifty-three had been forthcoming and even slightly pleasant.
  • It Was Love At Second Sight by rednights | T | 35k | Hermann receives the first letter when he is eighteen years old. (or: Kaiju don't attack the Earth, but Hermann and Newt still write letters, botch their first meeting, and fall in love, not necessarily in that order.)
  • How to Accidentally Become a Jaeger Pilot in 10 Easy Steps by Avelera | T | 6k | When one idiot grad student gets himself killed studying Kaiju, the world overreacts immediately and forbids anyone to access Kaiju at all who hasn't first gone through a certification process which is, at present, only available at the Jaeger Academy. So Newt does the natural thing, and joins the Jaeger Program just long enough to get his certification, with plans to immediately drop out after. This does not go exactly as planned. Largely because Hermann is there too.
  • the logician. by Lvslie | T | 8k | ‘I’m lookin,’ Newton says, withdrawing rapidly, inviting a cold slither of dizzying air between them and leaving Hermann breathless and blinking. Newton’s voice is tense and urgent, eyes bright with conviction. ‘I am. Haven’t once looked away in twelve years.’ [A take on the various revelations following the almost-apocalypse, written for a Tumblr prompt.]
  • birds in flight by Lvslie | T | 7k | ‘But, ah, it all just comes down to one thing, doesn’t it? You, on the verge of leaving. Leaving somewhere, anywhere. And you cannot. That’s a simple fact: this mustn’t be a circle, I refuse … we … I wasn’t even aware we were a possibility still. So, goddamn it, Newton, I am not letting you go. You’re going to stay here. And if, if you must go, because of some goddamned ticket or some such, I’ll go with you. Schedule compatibility be damned.’ [Written for the prompt 'Just this once' – Newt and Hermann return to Stockholm after the drift, and try to tie the loose ends.]
  • First a Darling, Then a Marvel by isozyme | M | 20k | Newt runs a simulation given three constraints: 1: Newt wants to clone a kaiju 2: Hermann does not want Newt to clone a kaiju 3: Newt is going to clone a kaiju anyway
  • Blue Matter by HoloXam | T | 13k | Hermann nods, a slow, single incline of his head. His brows knit together again, and though the distance between them is too large for an accurate assessment of finer facial movement, Newt is willing to swear on his absent mother’s life that the guy doesn't blink once while maintaining a dizzying laserbeam of sharp, scrutinising eye contact. “Don't fall out the window, Dr. Geiszler,” says Hermann, and it's blunt and close to mockery, but pretty good advice actually. If only it had been delivered with the smallest hint of amusement, then maybe Newt's cheeks wouldn't feel like they were melting off his face right about now. “Don't tell me what to do, man, I’ll fall if I damn well please,” Newt says and shuts the window. [A story about Newt and the Drift]
  • Hold on (your hands hold mine) by Storystuff | 113k | Newt isn't strong enough to fight the Precursors alone, but he's not alone anymore. Hermann isn't going to let Newt go so easily.
  • partners in crime by emma_394 and OnyxSphynx | T | 16k | “You must be Precursor. You’re late.” Newton processes the sound of his voice—the way his tongue rolls the r when he says Precursor so it’s more like Prrrecursor— and then the man stands up. He grabs his cane and turns around, holding out his hand towards him. Even with his slightly bent posture from where he has to lean his weight against the cane, he’s taller than Newt, and extremely slim, the old-style professor clothes he’s engulfed unable to conceal his long, lean legs and his dainty frame completely. Newt studies his face, and the way this shitty café’s lightning seems to compliment his dark eyes, his fair complexion, his thin, graceful lips, and, especially, his cheekbones. They could literally cut glass. Dude, what the fuck are you thinking?! Yeah, Newt has to admit, he looks like a completely old-school, stuck-up bastard, but he’s hot. Disturbingly so. Finally, Newt snaps out of it and shakes his hand. His grip is firm and his skin is dry and lightly calloused and cold and— “Call me Newt, please,” he chirps as he sits down, trying to cut his stupid thoughts off.
  • Newton Geiszler and His Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Interns by cambion and casdere | G | 8k | "I know, it's all a bit silly," he admits. "You always get a bit silly about your crushes, yeah?" She teases easily, and Hermann nearly spits out his mouthful of soup. Jasmine gives him another concerned look, but he waves her away. "Vanessa, can you please not," he hisses under his breath, and she laughs with the phone pulled away from her face, sounding like distant bells, and he feels taken back to high school, and remembers the fumbling idiocy of his crush on her, and knows immediately she is right, and he ought to give up the fight. He has a crush, an honest to God crush, and at his age! He knows, surely, it started with his fascination of the man's intellect, but he also knows how quickly and easily he was drawn into his off-kilter charisma, as well. (or: hermann and newt are college professors, newt is working on his sixth doctorate, hermann is nursing a nasty crush, and i fit way too much into one chapter)
  • It's All in the Hands of a Lazy Projector by patster223 | T | 10k | Hermann is cursed as a child so that he may never remember anyone he meets. Theoretically, this should make falling in love impossible, but then he meets (and meets and meets and meets) Newton Geiszler.
  • Too Much by kihadu | T | 22k | Hermann does not and will not find the ex-neuroscientist-now-barista attractive. That’s not a thing he’s going to do, he’s going to go back to his office and deal with whatever woes his grad students have concocted today. Yes. (No.)
  • Portrait. by VictoryCandescence | G | 6k | We all know about Becket and Mori, the Last Rangers of Hong Kong and the late Marshall Stacker Pentecost. But Doctors Hermann Gottlieb and Newton Geiszler might be two you haven’t heard about until now. And when you hear their story, you’ll wonder how it ever stayed a secret for so long.
  • How to Train Your Kaiju by psikeval | T | 21k | “You don’t wanna hurt me,” he repeats, and steps forward, holding out his hand.
  • behind us by kiyala | G | 1k | After the Breach is closed, Newt asks Hermann to go to Boston with him. Hermann doesn't leave.
  • i remember you (sort of, maybe) by classyfanperson | T | 2k | No kaiju attacks San Francisco in August 2013. Newton Geiszler feels like something is missing.
  • 追伸 by lamphouse | T | 8k | "If I recall correctly, this is the man who confessed to wanting a pet Godzilla for his twentieth birthday, is it not? Glass houses, Dr. Geiszler." It takes two months for Newton Geiszler to fall in love. It takes thirty months, around two hundred letters, several time zones, and two missed-ish connections for him to actually admit it.
  • Do Scientists Dream of Cloned Sheep? by paenteom | T | 3k | Newt fumbles with the key card before he finally manages to swipe it, throws the door open and freezes. There's only one bed. It's massive, and covered in the fluffiest blanket he has ever seen, but it's undeniably singular. "Uh," he says. "Awkward."
  • Mental Compatibility by provocation | T | 6k | “If you’re happy in a dream…does that count? The happiness– does it count?” — Arundhati Roy, The God of Small Things (Set post-Uprising. Contains spoilers.)
  • handwriting(s) of god by OnyxSphinx | T | 8k | Hermann discovers, in his youth, a trunk full of sketchbooks in the attic of his family home, depicting the same man over and over again. Sixteen years later, Newton Geiszler, his penpal, with whom Hermann is slightly infatuated, sends him a photo of himself—one which looks exactly like the man in the sketchbooks.
