  • best teeth... care... hygiene order: preliminary gentle brush (don't rinse) -> floss -> brush (don't rinse) -> scrape tongue -> mouthwash
    • preliminary brush displaces plaque
    • flossing with toothpaste residue -> toothpaste reaches tight crevices
    • brush again
    • scrape tongue
    • mouthwash as final rinse
    • (if i have time i like to throw in a preliminary flossing session though)
  • flossing your teeth is actually really fun and meditative
  • oral b glide does not have enough friction to clean between ur teeth nearly as well as any competent floss should... it does not deserve its acclaim
  • collegeboard is a monopoly etc etc but ap exams can really pay off if you know your university/major is going to be impacted
    • better option for high schoolers might be dual enrollment
      • pros: credits aren't dependent on performance on a single test, only lasts one semester, often free
      • cons: maybe inconvenient w/ high school schedule, transferrability might be less straightforward
    • also consider CLEP exams
      • easier than AP exams (multiple choice + you only need to pass), but transfers less consistently. buuuuut you can knock them out for dummy elective credits to raise your class standing & nudge ur registration date forward
      • also: cheaper than ap exams if u can secure a voucher from completing one of those nonprofit online courses. $30 to pay a proctor (i think ap exams were like $80 a pop)
      • & you can take them in college :)
  • gen eds are fun and good for you
  • math is fun ...
    • unlike humanities classes where you can learn by osmosis & science classes where tangible concepts help tie things together, most math you learn in secondary school is pretty abstract. you actually have you study to get it down, and it's not something you'll necessarily practice in or be able to synthesize with ur daily life
    • so it is much easier to say "haha i just cant do math" than to recognize that the problem there is rectifiable for most ppl
      • also hard to recover from being off the bandwagon since math education is cumulative
    • my solution to this: get a sweet quirked-up middle-aged lady professor in university bc she 1.) has more control over the materials she uses, including more engaging problem sets and 2.) instills u with a crippling fear of disappointing her
  • header {

  • extended bio pages should be function over form
    • i will be a hater for a moment and say that i really really hate the rentry/sntry design trend of filling extended bios w/ nonstandard shorthand (ex: removing vowels for stylistic reasons)/pointless links (just for the underline/color)
    • i hate it so much ... im sorry..... i'm not a screenreader user or dyslexic or otherwise nd but i still cannot read that kind of thing. it defeats the purpose of an extended bio page to begin with & when i see it i click off immediately
      • also it's just ugly
  • i like the oxford comma
    • (i know i underuse commas on this page but it's only bc i was cursed with verbosity and will sound like Judith Butler if i don't actively soften my writing style)
  • i feel like if someone's DNI list has more than like... 3 distinct points about niche internet discourse topics... they might be better served by stepping away from the kinds of communities where they could reasonably expect to encounter those things
    • also... if you hang out in clowders where "DNI pedophiles" really truly feels like a necessary clause...... i don't know what to tell you
  • it's nobody's job to educate bigots on the internet, but if you waste time dunking on them over it for internet points i think youre............... i dont want to say anything mean but i think it's very irresponsible. they're real ppl who don't exist in a vacuum, and being petulant to them runs the risk of harming the way they interact w/ marginalized ppl irl
    • the way short-form socmed like tweeter/tiktok facilitates this kind of behavior really irks me
