user picture luis: Hey, I browsed through 31 Songs and read bits of it in a bookshop. Looks like a great read, it's a bit expensive at P550 though. aug 13 2007
user picture katia: I've been meaning to get it for awhile now, but the price IS what keeps me from buying it all the time. I just read an excerpt from it on a blog though, so now I'm even more convinced to get my hands on a copy soon, haha. Compared to the prices of books here (normally at least $20=Php800) though, P550 isn't bad at all. With all the sales pa, I'm even more jealous, boo. I can't wait to go back and stock up on books, haha!
user picture luis: i implore you to get a long way down asap. and i rarely use the word 'implore'. actually, almost never, lol. :D aug 17 2007
user picture katia: i just came across several quotes/excerpts from that novel the other day and now i really am convinced that it's the next book i should buy! haha. and yeah, because you implored me too as well. :p implore - that word reminds me of a (The?) Kooks song, haha. sep 1 2007
user picture luis: yeah, it's pretty cool. kafka on the shore is what i would describe as an exercise in consciousness expansion, so if that type of thing gets to you, go! ...i'm sure you didn't understand any of that. well it's just a pretentious way of saying it's really cool, but it's different and surreal. :P sep 6 2007
user picture luis: and it's so different from norwegian wood.
user picture lizziecow: Special Topics in Calamity Physics started out great, but the ending was just bizarre. i'd recommend just borrowing it from someone you know. then again, i got the trade paperback version and it was kind of cheap, so maybe buying your own copy won't hurt? i think i got it for around P375 at Fully Booked, it's probably not a lot more expensive in Sydney. ok, my comment was kind of pointless. sep 12 2007
user picture katia: hahaha it was really on my hrm?/unsure of list, so maybe if i find a pretty cheap copy na nga lang i'll buy it. i saw one nga lang last Thursday, and i was browsing through the table of contents and it looked pretty interesting pero it wasn't THAT cheap pa, so maybe next time na lang hahaha. hey this point wasn't pointless. thanks Liz! :) sep 16 2007
user picture katia: this COMMENT wasn't pointless. hahaha ano ba, i hope you understood this. :p
user picture gailee: i'm jealous! you already have the griffin and sabine trilogy? i've had that on my wishlist for sooo long jan 19 2008
user picture katia: i've had it on mine for YEARS as well, hahaha! then for my birthday last month, my brother and his wife got it for me. :) i hope you get yours soon too! it's really beautiful.
user picture Michelle: I love What We Talk About When We Talk About Love. Your list is making me want to dig up my copies of the books that I have. :) apr 4 2008
user picture katia: i can't really seem to find a copy of that here! did you buy yours in Manila or elsewhere? haha go, and turn your room into a libray na nga lang! :)
user picture Michelle: I think I got it in a used book store in the US. Try Amazon's marketplace! :) Library -- that's the plan! I just have to see it through. Hahaha apr 5 2008
user picture katia: but the shipping rates are going to kill me! kainis hahaha. i'll keep an eye out na lang, maybe there's a copy hiding here somewhere. good luck with the library! :) seeing your books all organized and properly stacked is such a great feeling. :) apr 7 2008
user picture em: i have one, two, three, and seven, plus raymond carver's book (which is technically joni's, but we share everything now). pahiram ko na lang sa yo. :) apr 12 2008
user picture katia: aww thanks em! when i go back maybe i'll take you up on that offer especially for the carver book since it's hard to come by. i don't have the last two sisterhood of the traveling pants books, but i really want to get a boxed set! :) apr 13 2008
user picture jenz: i am a huge gabriel garcia marquez fan, so i definitely recommend him :) apr 21 2008
user picture katia: what's your favorite book of his? :) jun 4 2008
user picture jenz: ALL OF THEM. but the first one i read that hooked me to be a GGM fan girl was 'tales of my melancholy whores.' i gave a copy to my grandpa in spanish for father's day and he loved it! jun 19 2008
user picture char: 100 Years Of Solitude is amazing. Strike it off your list ASAP! jun 4 2008
user picture katia: i know. probably after i've read more of my books here though because i have quite a big to-be-read pile and it's really making me feel guilty haha.
user picture Pamcy: After Dark! :D Try getting Norwegian Wood, also by Haruki Murakami. :) sep 22 2010
