• Don't buy any of your books. Waste of money. Instead, wait until the first day of class to see if you really need it, and if so, rent them from chegg.com
  • Go to as many tacky Christmas sweater parties as you can on the weekends before finals.
  • Buy a calendar where you can manage your time by the hour for the entire week. You'll most likely be more productive.
  • Make sure if you sign up for a hard course, you have an easier course to balance it. You'll be thankful come exam time.
  • Avoid bringing your car to school the first year of college, it will force you to get to know more people & get involved.
  • Get organized before school starts rather than after; because once it starts, it's all fast pace from there.
  • Find a mentor (preferable an older adult)-- they will be your best and most wise friend in hard times.
  • Don't start skipping class until you're near the end of your sophomore year or later; its a hard habit to break.
  • Find a favorite type of pen, it will make writing notes so much more enjoyable. Nothing like a good pen.
  • Don't stress yourself out so much with school, know that part of the experience is not only being a student, but also having a once in a lifetime opportunity to be young before the real world.
  • Find someone who makes you laugh and keep them around; they will give you lightheartedness even when you're up at 4am studying for an exam you have at 6am.
  • Be saving up for spring break; there is nothing like a college spring break on the beach that makes cancelling all your hair appointments worth it!
  • Wash your sheets regularly. It will make a night sleep worth of a difference.
  • Schedule days where you do absolutely nothing and allow yourself to be unproductive. Your mind will thank you.
  • If at all means possible, don't bring the girlfriend or boyfriend to college. Trust me, you'll find out why.
