- when you're in the wave pool, don't lose focus. that pretty girl who smiled at you also saw you catch a wave to the face afterward when you forgot where you were.
- aside from your family (which you're most likely born into) you get to pick who is in your life and how much. "friends" who are no good for you can be booted.
- it's hard to change. even if the change has been a long time coming or even if it's something you worked for, it's still hard. the way that you look at the world is altered, but it doesn't happen over night which leads to some pretty confusing times. but that gets better.
- you have to be as honest with people as you can be about who you are. also, and maybe most importantly, you have to be honest with yourself otherwise you probably won't be happy. this means you have to search yourself for the good, the bad and everything in between.
- the people you love are human beings with flaws. sometimes this comes as a shock because when you love someone it a lot of times feels like they can do or be no wrong, but that's not true. you can't expect perfection out of someone if you're never going to be able to give it either.
- there are some times when even a writer runs out of words. that's okay, they come back.
- playing cards with friends or family is a lot more fun that I remembered it being from childhood and I don't know why I thought that it was really boring. I still don't like board games for the most part, however.
- there are spiders. they will get in your house. try not to let it keep you up at night. paranoia will not help the situation even a little.
- no one is so unique that they'll never be able to relate. you choose whether or not you can connect with people, for the most part. you have to get to know yourself and others and soon you'll realize that you are not more different than anyone else is.
- take a look at the people who are very close to you. you will likely find that they are really awesome and will totally be there even when you're trying to figure yourself out and that's probably a crazy time for them too.
