I may have a fanfiction problem, especially, Pride and Prejudice fanfiction. I'm tired of forgetting that I've read a fanfiction already so here's a list:

  • Pride and Prejudice
    • An Impossible Treasure
    • A Delicate Rose (5/5)
    • Against Their Better Judgement
    • An Impossible Treasure (2/5)
    • It Only Stands to Reason (3/5)
    • Twenty Months (2/5)
    • A Surfeit of Clerics (5/5)
    • Pember Lake (5/5)
    • Reconcilable Differences (2/5)
    • 00-Marriage (or, Operation: Bachelorhood) (5/5)
    • A Gentlewoman for Her Sake (2/5)
    • Dream Girl (0/5)
    • November 27th (3/5)
    • Correspondence and Courtship
    • By the Book
    • Some Like it Wild (4/5)
    • The Sword of Damocles (3/5)
    • Rocks in the Stream (2/5)
    • Rivals and Rascals
    • To Love Unselfishly
    • Bingley's Blunder, or the High Fine Art of Gossip (3/5)
    • The Power of Love
    • Venus and David
    • Revelations
    • One Way or Another
    • To Be Mistress of Pemberley (2/5)
    • Of Pirates and Bunnies
    • Sirius Intentions (2/5)
      • This is one of those stories that starts of well, but gets progressively worse.
    • Meltdown at the Engagement Party
    • Miss Bingley's Trip to the Park (3/5)
    • Orange You Glad (3/5)
    • Pride and Prejudice! In a Bathroom! (3/5)
      • Objectively, this should get a lower rating. The writing is not great and the author tries too hard to be whimsical and funny. However, the author also clearly had lots of fun writing it and for me that was infectious and I couldn't help but enjoy it. However, I would recommend not reading the extra story about agents, I have nothing good to say about it and regret bothering with it.
    • The Angels' Share (4/5)
    • Somtimes a Great Notion (3/5)
    • Fitzwilliam/Fitzwilliam (2/5)
    • His Wife (1/5)
    • All Because of You
    • All That This Entails (dropped)
    • Anxiety and Civility (1/5)
    • Once Upon a Dream (dropped)
    • The Question of Entail (2/5)
    • Project Pride and Prejudice (1/5)
    • The End is Where We Start From (2/5)
    • There She Blows (1/5)
    • Sweet Strain (2/5)
    • A Mother's Role (3/5)
    • What Love May Come (2/5)
    • Without Pride or Prejudice (2/5)
    • A Worthy Opponent (2/5)
      • I really dislike stories that don't veer far enough from the original. If the key events are left unchanged, then why even bother writing a fanfiction at all? I really enjoyed the chess elements added to the story, but my enjoyment was tempered by the fact that there were no significant changes in the key events of the original - the Hunsford proposal, the meeting at Pemberley, Lydia's elopement, and their engagements. In this story they were completely untouched. It would be more interesting if the chess development brought about some significant realizations for either of the main characters, but this did not happen even though there were various scenes where such epiphanies could have easily been incorporated and brought interesting changes to the original story. But no, the chess scenes, while interesting, added nothing substantial to the story and thus was disappointing overall. Also, the lack of change introduced some holes - for instance, in this story Darcy takes up opera for a short time after the failed proposal and Elizabeth supposedly has some realizations about Darcy's character and how deeply he loved her when she discovers this. But somehow, according to the author, a few weeks later at Pemberley is when she begun thinking she'd misjudged his character. The author should have been paying less attention to detailed chess game descriptions and more attention to contradictions in the story. The author spent too much time describing the chess games and not enough time considering how chess should influence in the story. While I enjoyed the descriptions of the chess games, it was too disappointing that I read thousands of words describing games that ultimately made no difference to the important elements of the story.
    • Mrs. Bingley (1/5)
      • In which Elizabeth marries Bingley, who turns out to be a philanderer, and Darcy offers his aid.
    • Dreams and Expectations (1/5)
      • Ridiculously angsty and melodramatic. The character development of certain characters is so rapid and drastic as to be unbelievable.
    • Georgie Writes a Note (1/5)
      • Uninteresting plot, very unnatural and stilted dialogue. The writing in general is bad.
