ingredients:

  • 150 g beef round steaks (or tenderloin/sirloin, 1.5 cm thick)
  • salt/pepper
  • 1 garlic clove (chopped)
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp sake
  • 1 tsp grated garlic

directions:

  • sauce: soy sauce, mirin, sake, grated garlic
  • add olive oil and garlic clove to pan and saute in low heat
  • make shallow grid cuts along bottom of steak and season with salt/pepper
  • heat pan to high and remove garlic and oil until there is 1 tsp oil left
  • cook 1 min at high heat then flip over for 10 seconds
  • reduce to low heat and cook for 10 more seconds then remove
  • cover steak with aluminium foil and let it rest for 5 min
  • add sauce to pan and boil until thick
  • cut steak and pour sauce and sprinkle fried garlic on top
