- 3/22 - Arrived in Cancun on time, got on bus to Playa Del Carmen, arrived and ate a beef taco while waiting for next bust to Tulum, arrived in Tulum and found a double room at Hotel Maya for a decent price, went out to find food, stopped at many places and were discouraged at how pricey the food was, ended up at this cute open air restaurant that turned out to be expensive and not very good, on way home stopped to get water, then got caught in a torrential down pour.
- 3/23 – Dropped our laundry off and took a cab to the Tulum Ruins. Walked around the ruins for a while. Swam at the beach. Walked around the shopping area outside the ruins. Walked back to town, stopped on the way for great fish tacos, and to pick up groceries. Took a nap. Ate delicious veggie tacos at Taqueria Montorre. Walked around town for a while.
- 3/24 – Went to get coffee at Café Natural, it as terrible and expensive. Ate sandwiches and drank coffee in our hotel room. Took a cab to the beach. Walked through the hotels and beaches behind them. Walked further down the road to Copal Cabanas hich as closed but we could still walk through to the beach. Layed out on the beach for a while and swam. Walked back down the road and had margaritas while sitting under palm trees looking at the ocean. Took a cab back to the hotel and took a nap. Ate delicious veggie tacos at Taqueria Montorre, again.
- 3/25 – Packed up our room and headed to the bus station. The woman at the snack bar refused to sell me an orange juice. Slept most of the way to Mahahual. Got in early and sat on the beach. Met up with Camilla and she gave us a tour of where they recycle and the scenic route to Xcalak. Stopped on the way to swim at an amazing beach. Swam out far and played in the waves. Sat on the beach chatting until Matthew showed up. Went to get dinner at a beach front café. Drove to Xcalak and chatted for a while before going to bed.
- 3/26 – Woke up to coffee and a delicious egg, rice and asparagus breakfast. Drove down the street to use the internet for a few hours. Hung out at the house practicing Spanish and drawing. Ate lunch and finished my book. Went out on the kayak and got scared by the waves and exposed coral when Richard took us out too far. Played cards.
- 3/27 – Internetted for a while. Went into town to pick up groceries.Took the kayak out and snorkeled. Drank a beer. Went for a run. Sat and listened to a conversation in Spanish with the neighbor. Ate soup and home made bread for dinner. Hung out for the rest of the night.
- 3/28 – Woke up at six and had breafast. Drove to the ranch. Got a flat tire. Took Matthews truck and the dogs to the beach and cleaned up plastic. Drove back to the ranch and switched cars. Ate lunch at a restaurant in someone’s house. Had a conversation with the guy who lived there about Marisol. Went to get coffee at Aroma. Tried to use the phone but they were in use. Drove back to the ranch and gave water to Matthew. Drove back to the beach and cleaned more. Went swimming. Drove back to Xcalak and stopped for beer. Made rice, beans, and platenos for dinner. Talked about mental illness, parents, children, and life with Camilla and Matthew.
