Jonathan Tokeley-Parry was one of the more egregious crimes I've heard about he painted over the antiques in order to smuggle them out of Egypt. He smuggled over 3,000 artifacts.

Some of these criminals who forge artworks get away with it like Tom Keating, even becoming famous for their stories, while others like Mohamed Aman Siddique do not.

This trend of art conservators and restorers calls into question the regulation of those who are in the profession. Clearly, a closer eye needs to be kept on those who are able to their hands on priceless and delicate artifacts, even the restorers who you'd think to trust around them.
