  • The hardest one to cast was John [Alden, Mary's former lover] because casting a guy in his mid-30s who is a leading man in a period piece is difficult, yet something about him had to have a contemporary out-of-place feeling because he thinks differently. That took a while to find, and I think Shane West is perfect because he's a little out of place -- in a good way. - Brannon Braga x
  • What I really love to do is wander. I usually end up somewhere special.
  • [...]And never auditioned for a commercial again. The funny part is, I wasn't working. So my agents gave me crap for not auditioning for commercials anymore. But I was beyond embarrassed, and didn't care if I was poor and lived in a garage. I had integrity! (or at least I thought I did)
  • (talking about horses) I don't believe they were made for riding. I feel like they're such a spiritual animal, I feel like we should watch them from afar, or maybe pet them. And they're skittish. Therefore, making ME skittish. Therefore, making ME the worst rider.
  • (on how he wants to be remembered) To know that I've done and strived to do quality work my entire life - whether it's in my career, or in my persona life. Hopefully to be looked up on as someone who was always honest, even if it was brutally honest.
  • (on his biggest fears) Besides failure, it would have to be sharks and drowning. I did go swimming with sharks in Hawaii a couple years ago to try and get over the fear, and I did a pretty damn good job, but it's still a brutal way to go. And I've always thought drowning would be terrible.
  • I'm pretty much an open book from what people know about me. Besides you know, reading, watching movies, I play the guitar, I go to the gym a lot, I run.
  • Music is definitely in your blood, was it ever a part of your professional development? My parents were in bands when I was growing up in Baton Rouge, LA. My family as a whole are very musical. Some classically trained. So I always thought that music might be the way to go but I also wanted something a bit different to call my own. That "different" being delving into the acting industry.
  • It’s been smoking in the past, which I’ve cut out. It was biting my nails in the past, which I’ve now cut out. I’m 32, so I did a full life reversal at 30 of at least paying attention to things more and actually getting them done instead of screwing around with them. I’d say it’s just — I have an inherent laziness that’s built in me that I have to fight through all the time. So I would say getting off the couch. I’m very much a huge movie watcher and book reader, and even though that can be productive, it still does mean sitting on the couch. So I think my worst habit is getting me out of the house. Once I get out then I can keep moving.
