    • 7.8/10 | it was good but i'm just comparing it to ember in the ashes and it wasn't as good as that. like i didn't feel that same attachment to alina in the first book as i did with laia/elias? but nonetheless interesting, easy read + i like that there's a show to accompany it!

    • 7/10 | not as good at first book because i felt the middle section dragged and could've been cut in half and storyline would've been fine. the end really got me sucked in though when the darkling invaded! also mal and alina's broken relationship annoyed me here
  • Ruin and Rising - Leigh Bardugo

    • for this book i listened to this album as bgm and it fit so nicely
    • 9.5/10 omg ... this was def the best book of the 3!! just the flow of it and the character development and the way that everything started coming full circle from the first book (like motifs, backstories, secrets unveiled, the final battle) it made me so emotional knowing i was nearing the last few chapters b/c i wasn't ready to let these characters go. and ahh mal's love for alina is Unmatched genuinely ,, the way he was and has always Her Blade made my heart ache and im so so happy he didn't die and they had their happy ending as regular people and not people tied to politics or power :') also this is entirely not related but mal's "i am become a blade" tattoo is the most hilarious thing ever im so sorry for him
  • Convenience Store Woman - Sayaka Murata

    • 6/10 wouldnt usually gravitate towards these types of books, but tbh it really was relatable to me. the way that this lady (keiko?) feels content w where she is in life, single/working low level job while her family and friends are trying to "cure" her of being an outsider. That is relatable to me! and i found a lot of comfort in it haha
