Act 3a | Tales of Bitterbug and Scarabella (Première)

  • A nod to Ladybug Miraculous Holder Alya Césaire in canon. Tikki uses Alya’s personal concepts of her LadyForm on the Ladyblog to create it. Nino knows that she’s Ladybug to avoid questioning.

Synopsis: Much to the distress of her team, ladybug has hibernated her persona in light of Volpina’s outstanding betrayal. Chat Noir’s not having it, leading a majority of the team to search for his Lady, but Marinette is too tired to deal with it all. As she casts away her role once more as Bitterbug, two faces from the Hero’s Gala gladly welcome her to their side.

“Marinette starts off as Bitterbug alongside Tikki as Scarabella, but runs off when her real identity is found out. Tikki is scrambling to get her back, but when Plagg finds and comforts her she knows for sure it’s useless.

There are some scenes with Lila being shamefull, but doesn’t really play a role during this arc. Marinette leaves the Bug Club though (which is met with a lot of alarm!)”

This season is meant to emphasize the lack of trust Marinette feels in both herself and the people around her. It makes her lash out as Bitterbug, apprehending people instead of talking them down and letting her cohorts settle the damage. Kagami and Félix serve as an escape from all this misery, and they encourage her to face Hawkmoth once he’s temporarily activated the wish via The Moth-light.
