Northern Ireland divided loyalties
- the difference in political beliefs is one of the main factor for the conflict between the protestants and catholics.
- the protestants sees themselves as british and wish to see their country to remain as part of the United Kingdom .
- they do not wish to reunit with the republic of ireland because they fear that the catholic government may not be tolerant of their protestants beliefs.
- on the other hand , the catholics sees themselves as Irish and wish to reunit with the republic of ireland . moreover , in the past , in the history of english conquest the catholics were either treated harshly or killed .
- therefore the difference in loyalty and political beliefs has made the protestants and catholics intolerant of each other , they found it difficult to get along with each other , thus , leading to conflict ...
