- Met my grandpa at 14 when he saved her from drowning in the rapids. She had spent all day preparing for a party so when she went swimming she was exhausted and fainted somehow.
- My grandma was known for being a very clean and tidy woman. When my grandpa got pneumonia, he was allowed to stay at home when usually he would've had to stay in hospital. Their house was just so clean.
- While my grandpa had pneumonia, she took care of him, their store, their three daughters and their livestock.
- One winter she was going to church with her baby on a sled. When they crossed a lake as a short cut, the horse fell into the ice. She managed to jump out of the sled and save the baby, and the horse also managed to somehow jump out of the ice.
- During the war, Soviet spies were found skiing in the nearby forests. They were caught, and some of them were brought to her house. They were later taken away and executed.
- Once all their horses and some other horses that were in the same field ran away, so some farmhands went out looking for them. Eventually they did find them, and loaded some on a pick-up truck. On one curve, the truck went too fast so one of the horses, Olli, fell off the side and died immediately.
