★ ⇢ problematic, bad plot, DNF (for reasons listed), harmful

★★ ⇢ dissatisfied (bad plot/character development) at worst, neutral/disinterested at best

★★★ ⇢ not emotionally attached/no strong feelings; neutral or enjoyed

★★★★ ⇢ thinking abt it a lot since reading/during reading; a solid read; would recommend to someone else

★★★★★ ⇢ i don't care; it has changed my life.

notes:

• bad writing isn't the main criteria, because improving is a thing!
• ideas i disagree with are not demonstrative in the rating; ideas might be thought-provoking.
• i will not review DNF books if they "weren't for me"
• these ratings are subject to change, but it's a system that works for me thus far.
