The armor of God is a metaphorical framework that Apostle Paul uses to describe the spiritual defenses available to believers in the battle against the forces of evil. The purpose of the armor is to equip the believer to face the devil's schemes, whether felt or not. The spiritual war is constant so preparation must be constant. The armor of God consists of:

    • the belt of truth
    • the breastplate of righteousness
    • the shoes of the gospel of peace
    • the shield of faith
    • the helmet of salvation
    • the sword of the spirit
    • and prayer.

It is worn by faith, deliberately. In addition, God provides the Holy Spirit, who plays a crucial role in empowering and guiding believers in their spiritual battles. ‧₊ His presence and assistance is vital for overcoming the challenges posed by spiritual adversaries.

Spiritual warfare is rooted in the understanding that beyond the physical realm, there is a spiritual dimension where battles for the souls of humanity are waged. The believer's true adversaries are not human but spiritual entities.

  • Ephesians 6:12. "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places."

Described as a deceiver and accuser, Satan's role is to oppose God's purposes and lead humanity astray. ‧₊ However, the ultimate victory in spiritual warfare is assured through Jesus Christ. Christ's death and resurrection has secured the defeat of Satan and his forces, providing believers with the assurance of victory as they remain steadfast in faith.

  • Colossians 2:13-15. "You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

Through faith, prayer, and the application of God's word, believers are equipped to stand firm against the spiritual forces of evil, confident in the ultimate triumph secured by their Savior.

  • Romans 13:12. "The night is nearly over; the day has drawn near. So let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light." ..ೃ*:・
