today i went through my ideas with chris.

───── ⠀ communication aid

    • struggled to explain the concept. he thought i was making a universal language as well.
    • decided mainly the most realistic idea was to create prompts or ideas that could help kids/people alike to create words or visual things that associated with their deeper feelings, which they could then use to communicate with their peers/teachers/family etc.
      • forces a personal bond and learning opportunity with the other which is neat.
    • we decided overall that although this is a very cool idea it's a lot for me to take on all by myself. it's definitely a real issue and a cool idea, but it would burn me out and i don't think i could take the overwhelming stress of this project. i don't have all the research or experience or anything.
    • plus the research ethics board would have my ass.

───── ⠀ wellness café

    • it was easier to explain this project. it seemed more exciting when i included the touchpoints in my explanation. he seemed more on board with the idea after that. had some questions about ethics but i could redirect the idea easily to become more ethical.
      • ex. i mentioned the idea of having easy access to a therapy consultation and he was wondering if i was offering that as a service and how weird would that be right? but once i mentioned the idea of it being more like a coupon or a pamphlet of a therapy organization that partnered with the café he was more on board.
    • he didn't think it was more boring necessarily. it's not that it can't be exciting — there's a lot i could do with this. it's just less of a problem, really. though i think it's a lot less overwhelming. it's far closer to my comfort zone than the other project is. as much as i'd like to do it, i don't think i can, not in a way i'd be happy with in the end.
