What got me into linux?
- i saw a handful of awesome rices online, and for a while i didn't switch cause i thought it would be too hard and felt kinda jealous that everyone had so much control over their systems. the last straw i think was when windows 10 support ended (& because i always hated windows). i started out using linux mint and moved right into my current distro not long after.
When did I switch?
- early on into the start of 2026. that was true freedom right there. before i understood more about computers, i wanted to stop feeling isolated, but no genuine connections came out of it for me. the worst of that definitely was post-covid and this year tbh. when i fell into linux, all that stuff i felt about social media just kinda disappeared right along with windows. no dual boot, nothing like that. it was really a fresh start in everything, and i never looked back.
What keeps me motivated in studying computers?
- i'm heavily against self-censorship, suppression of news + media & lack of digital agency. i enjoy studying the relationship between these things, and as the net keeps changing while im using it too
- for self-expression, it's so much different than being at the mercy of an algorithm. being on the outside again, it really changed my perspective about what my priorities even were online & about the people around me
- as a plus, listo has stayed strong all these years with its ad-free policies as to why i am comfortably using it as an archive again c:
