The dream is to take a trip around the world and experience different tea drinking cultures. Tea has spread about the world first on the silk route and other trade and also through colonialism. Some of the dream stops would be:

  • various places in China (I haven't done much research but I'm sure there are different customs in different places)
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • Russia
    • Tea is brewed strong in a samovar and then diluted in the cup. May be sweetened with jam.
    • Chifir' is a type of extremely strong tea brewed in Russian prisons where smoking and drinking are prohibited. 5-8 tablespoons of tea per cup, caffeine breaks down and adenine & guanine are released
  • Mongolia
  • Uzbekistan
  • Kazakhstan
  • Iran
  • Pakistan
  • Kashmir
  • India (my relatives' houses and chaiwala stands)
  • Burma
    • lahpet, pickled tea leaves sometimes served with green tea and snacks such as fried garlic, chickpeas, toasted sesame seeds, and peanuts. Sometimes made into a salad.
  • Thailand
    • the famous Thai iced tea
    • Black Tie: Thai iced tea with two shots of espresso. Is this a Thai drink?
  • Hong Kong
  • Taiwan
  • England
  • Ireland
  • Other parts of Europe are known for coffee culture but I wonder?
    • Germany:
      • East Frisia: kluntje sugar cube placed in the bottom of a cup (land), strong black tea poured over it (water), and thick cream layer on top (clouds). Served without mixing so every layer is tasted separately. In winter, a mixture of rum and kluntje may be added to the tea.
      • "In Northern Germany they handle it in the following way. First they take rock candy and put it into a glass. It can be brown or white rock candy. The glass is filled up with brown rum which has a Vol% between 38 and 40 of alcohol. It is possible to mix and use it immediately, but most people just put it aside for a while. After some time the fluid of rum becomes glutinous and the surface of the rock candy becomes soft. When this mixture is in that status they put some spoons of it into the cup and fill it up with black tea. Could be from Ceylon or comparable. When filling up with the hot tea the rock candy crashes internally and when mixing up the tea with it all it becomes a wonderful experience especially in wintertime." This is from a comment on some website
  • Turkey
  • Libya
  • Egypt
  • Somalia

  • Chad
