- ive always been extremely interested in cartoons that take genuine conversations of 2 or more people and animating it into a real story,, although i cant think of many examples (home movies + doctor katz, but those are more humorous)
- the settings and background drawings, although on screen for barely a few seconds, are all beautiful.. ive followed the art director, jesse moynihan, for a fairly good amount of time on instagram, and his work never seises to amaze me,, the bright colors and gradients and visual noise are something that arent necessarily used often in animation
- ive only watched 4 episodes of this (at the time writing this, anyways), but i can tell that its something truely unique and special
- ive been really enjoying this series so far, but i do have some gripes with it. it can be somewhat jarring having two or more characters going on this somewhat nonsensical adventure, always leading up to something big, while they just have a deep conversation about love or religion,, which like, yeah. thats the whole point of the show. but idk smth abt it doesnt make it exactly smooth?? i rly want to enjoy the animation but i usually end up having to stare at the subtitles to actually understand what theyre talking about. it might just be my awful brain, but its hard for me to focus on the fast-paced action of the show and the slow-paced action of the conversation
- the premise of the show is honestly so simply but SO genius,, its such a fun and whimsical concept while also being relevant to whats happening today, and thats something really special to balance
- i also think its an interesting concept of having a main character that changes designs every episode, like yes he does have a "normal" design but its really cool to have him change silhouettes constantly and yet keep him recognizable whether it be through color palettes or mannerisms
- the animations somewhat inconsistent, in one seen im blown away by how nice it looks, and in others im somewhat let down. i do really enjoy the limited animation dont get me wrong!! i just feel like some minor scenes couldve been touched up a little more perhaps
- i might touch up on this list later but im enjoying this series so far!! just sometimes really hard to stay in focus of whats happening
- UPDATE the last 4 episodes were fucking fantastic
- something about episodes 2 3 and 4 didnt hit me as hard as the other episodes?? but i mostly think bc they were talking abt subjects that i dont entirely understand..
