- okay im not done with the series as im writing this but i'll probably update this when i am
- BUT BOY this shows GOOD
- uuum plot: funny alien and robots planet gets attacked so they go to earth and have to chill on earth for a while and blend in,, they go to high school but also they can pilot a giant robot and they protect the earth from other giant aliens
- IT SOUNDS DUMB BUT. I PROMISE IT'S GOOD
- i think the first 2 or so episodes aren't super captivating?? but get a couple of episodes in and you'll be HOOKED
- its. its obvious that lance is my fav.... if theres a "rude boy who is secretly very nice and sweet he just doesn't know how to express his emotions" you KNOW theyre my fav. also hes punk oh my god. they made this character for me.
- THE OTHER 2 CHARACTERS ARE RLY GOOD TOO i love octus a whole bunch,, also his voice actor is so good (he does jim from mission hill if i remember right),, illana is good but i havent been able to get too connected w her?? SHES STILL GOOD but i guess out of the 3 main cast shes my least fav (but not my least fav out of all the characters!!)
- this show has probably some of the best action sequences from an american cartoon ive seen so far,, also this show is PG??? idk how they get away w so much on this show?? theres guns and buildings getting destroyed and monsters getting sliced right in half where you can see their innards and this shit is PG????
- ALSO THE WAY THE EPISODES ARE ORGANIZED IS WILD ITS LIKE "the gang have to send a dying animal to space and learn the true meaning of love" to "the gang buys girl scout cookies" to "the gang's parents are fucking dead"
- this show rly handles a lot of different topics really well and thats so good,, esp in a PG show,, im sure that children weren't their main demographic but kids would still eventually watch this show bc it's PG, so it rly does give good messages to kids
- OKAY WAIIIT but there is some adult content or just.. suggestive stuff in this show and im still wondering how it has a PG rating
- there is some stuff where the shows like "look at these sexy teens haha high school am i right" or they give the female characters the same big bust, skinny waist, wide hip sillohuete and its like come on gendy. gendy dont do this
- and then sometimes it makes it seem as if lance has romantic feelings for illana and theyre SIBLINGS GENDY DONT DO THIS!!!!!!!! okay theyre not related but. they're sibling-coded yknow??? gendy i swear to god if they kiss im gonna be so mad
- i rly do like the art style but sometimes it can be extremely off model,, it's fairly consistent most of the time so you can REALLY tell when the characters look a little wacky (and most of the time being off model isn't really for a joke they just. look weird in one scene and then normal in the next)
- also the use of the 3d models is super obvious,, i do like how it adds this sort of contrast between the characters and their robots but seeing how the 3d models have a very thin outline and are animated completely different i feel like it's a bit too much of a contrast?? sometimes the clash between art styles can be a bit jarring
- but yea i rly like this show,, good characters good themes good action scenes!! good jokes too i've laughed a p good amount watching this
