• If your car goes into the water, open the door or roll down the windows immediately. If you don't the pressure differential will hold them shut and you'll have to wait for the car to fill up with water. (Headrests on newer cars can be taken off and if you put the metal at the corner of your window and slam the headrest it can break the window.)
  • If you're caught in a riptide, swim sideways. Riptides aren't large horizontally, so it doesn't take a lot of swimming to get out of the current.
  • If a tornado looks like it isn't moving, then its heading right towards you.
  • Don't delay getting out of a burning building. The flames aren't the ones that will kill you, the smoke will get thick and toxic very quickly and you wont be able to see the way.
