- Had my first workout session with Shandy. I've become somewhat of her health and fitness guru. I've got to get her down ten pounds and be ready for all the physical tests that she needs to pass for the Army. In turn, this is motivating me to work harder too!
- Saw Larry Crowne with Alex. It was cute. A movie my mom could probably benefit from seeing. It's about change. And even when you're in your 50's and you've been married or in the same job for a long time, that things can still change in an instant but it doesn't mean life is over. Just different!
- Watched many Cirque Du Soleil videos and downloaded more songs from their shows. Still as inspired and in love with it as ever. I wish I had found trapeze earlier.
- Took my seventh trapeze class! Worked on a new trick. The set split! I wasn't doing a good one-handed take off (boo :/) so I did the trick with a two-handed take off and I really liked it. It felt so much more natural than all the previous tricks I've done and I did pretty good at it right off the bat! It was a major confidence booster and I had a great class all together!
- Became as engrossed in the Casey Anthony case as most of America. It was a sad case. But very intriguing. At first, I was as outraged by the verdict as the whole country seems to be, but the more I read and learned about the case, the more I agreed with it. It was a historical trial to be a witness of.
- Got a call back from the Stafford SPCA. I was not qualified for the two positions I applied for but fortunately, they had another opening for their office assistant, which they think I'd be perfect for. It's the same pay and it's further away. I am not sure how I feel about it :/.
- Turned down the office position with the Stafford SPCA. I couldn't take a pay cut plus a 30 minute commute when I live one mile away from work now.
- Saw Horrible Bosses with Alex. Pretty damn funny.
- Went with Shandy back to the recruiter. She failed the test this time. And lost no weight. She's really gotta get serious! We went running for the first time together, also. We probably did a mile and a half and she walked 75% of the time. We gotta looong way to go!
- Luckily found a Quidam dvd at Big Lots. Oh, the treasures you can find there! I was about to buy it online for way more than I found it for.
- Saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. It was amazing. I cried several times. I am so sad that it's all over.
- Finished the 5th book in the Dark Tower series, Wolves of the Calla. Finally!
- Went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg for our first trip of the season. They had a new event, Illuminights, going on. It was pretty cool! And they had acrobats and contortionists performing that we missed but are definitely going back to see.
- Spent the night at Alex's parents house for the first time. I didn't really want to and went to bed early to avoid awkward socializing. Went to the Virginia Living Museum in the morning. It's a wonderful museum but it was so darn hot and most of the animals were sleeping because that's all they really could do! I would like to go back when I could spend more leisurely time. I tried to take some photos but I don't like how many of them turned out :/ Eh.
- Finished The Wave by Susan Casey. I flew threw it! It was so good. And nice to read some non-fiction for once. Laird Hamilton and the ocean are truly inspiring.
- After much turmoil and cruel words thrown around, Shandy has moved out...again. This time, completely! She has never taken ALL of her stuff, until now. She is living with Sabrina. And actually paying rent! We'll see how she does. She took her cats which I was devastated about because they were absolutely terrified and they have such a wonderful life at my mom's. But thank goodness, she brought them back when she came to her senses and realized she only took them out of spite and can't care for them.
- Took my eighth trapeze class after almost a month away! Ah! I never want to go that long without it again. I worked on the set split again and this time I caught it!
- Saw Crazy, Stupid, Love with Alex. It had some cheesy parts and the middle was a bit drawn out, but overall, I liked it. I wish it didn't end so happily on all accounts, though, because it just wasn't realistic. I guess my parents' divorce has turned me cynical :/
- Went to Westmoreland State Park with Alex. Had a nice little hike to Fossil Beach. Didn't find any sharks teeth but it was beautiful!
- Went with mom down to Richmond and saw Tiffany and her new house. Went out to lunch at Joe's Inn and ran into a girl who made a big revelation for Tiffany about Mr. T. It was pretty heavy and it was definitely meant to be that we were all at the restaurant at the same time.
- Saw 30 Minutes or Less with Alex. It was funny but not as funny as I expected!
- Finally finished my old Arab man drawing. I have been working on it forever. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Of course, I do see mistakes when I look at, as always. But I am my own worst critic and I still think it looks pretty okay and it feels so good to finish a piece of art!
- Watched the live-action film version of Avatar: The Last Airbender. I love the cartoon SO much and I had heard the movie was absolutely terrible but I loved it. I thought they did justice to an ENTIRE season of a very detailed cartoon in one movie.
- Also watched Tales from Earthsea. It was good. But I don't think Goro is quite on the level of his father yet.
- Went to Busch Gardens again with Alex's parents. It was our last time to see Illuminights and see some of the performances we missed last time: the diabolos, partner balancing and chair balancing! Of course it was way more up my alley than everyone else but I got some good pictures!
- Experienced the largest magnitude earthquake in Virginia since 1897! It felt crazy. All the animals freaked out at work. There were several aftershocks. It was pretty intense for this area. The Earth is definitely changing.
- 9th trapeze class. Worked on a set straddle whip. I believe I now have all the core tricks down. And soon I can begin working on strengthening my swing for bigger tricks! Aaron came and watched and took pictures. It was nice to see him although I felt guilty. But why should I? We're just friends. I also have a growing crush on Scout.
- Alex outed me again about being negative. I don't mean to and I really do want to change and be a more positive person. But maybe now we can start hashing things out about us and about our relationship and figure out where this is going.
- Saw Our Idiot Brother with Alex. It was really good. Genuinely funny but not in a cheesy, over the top way. And also had a great message, surprisingly.
- 10th trapeze class. Worked on a new trick. The pullover shoot. It hurt my hips and it was pretty difficult and I wobbled and fell the first couple times but I got it pretty good by the end. Still some work to go on the shoot part. My dad also came to watch for the first time. I thought I'd be embarrassed but it was a lot of fun. I got some great pictures from the new photographer they hired there too and a TSNY jump drive so I can purchase and put my pictures on it each class. Had great, meaningful talks with my Dad on the drive there and back, as usual. Fantastic day!
- Saw Warrior with Alex. It was pretty good. Had a touching storyline and wasn't just a brawler movie.
- Walked in the SPCA Walk for the Animals with Darla and Karl. Olivia was there with her dogs and boyfriend and we talked and walked together a bit and Tori was there as well with her husband and dog! It was nice to see her and chat and catch up a bit! I saw lots of SPCA alumni and it was a lot of fun.
- Really kicked up my stretching and flexibility routine this season. I have noticed a change and difference in my flexibility and abilities and I am looking forward to getting better!
- I didn't make much headway in getting a new job this summer. I feel torn. I want to make more money and use my degree and move up in my career but I also know how much the SPCA needs me and how I have become an integral part of the machine. I will feel so sad and guilty when I do leave because I will feel like I am abandoning my animals. No one cares for them like I do. Ugh, decisions, decisions.
- Money was very tight this summer also. Most of my extra money was going to our tickets and hotel and what not for Florida coming up.
