• Got a pseudo "promotion" at work. No raise involved, just became the go-to person and second in command for all medical issues.
  • Paid my first student loan payment. Ugh. Here comes the next 10 years of my life in debt.
  • Applied for a job as a curatorial assistant for a quadrapalegic curator at the Smithsonian.
  • Went out to eat with Alex, Dad and Janette. Delicious food, good conversation. They gave me my Christmas present early, 4 free one-hour deep tissue massages! Whaaaat! I can't wait.
  • Applied for another job as an organizer/planner for the Folklife Festival. I'm on a roll, woo!
  • Saw Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawntreader with Alex. Beautiful imagery but more obvious Christian allusions than any of the other movies.
  • Had our first snow of the winter. We got about 2-3 inches. I got out of work early. Pretty okay snow day!
  • Shandy psuedo-moved back home again. Please, let things work out now. Please, let things start moving onward and upward for her. I don't want to see her end up like her mother.
  • Got my car looked at finally! The squealing has stopped...for now.
  • Saw Black Swan with Alex. Excellent. Really made me wanna see a professional ballet.
  • Got a rejection email for the Smithsonian position. Bummer.
  • Went to Christmas Town at Busch Gardens with Alex, his parents, his brother and I met some of his Mom's family (Aunt Stephanie, Uncle Bo, Ryan and Jackson) for the first time. They were all really nice and easy to be around. Christmas Town was gorgeous. It was freezing but I was in good company and I got some great pictures! :)
  • 6 months at the SPCA!
  • Applied for a generic analyst position with the Navy. It's always an open position so who knows if I'll hear anything :/.
  • Got rejected for the Folklike Festival job. I'm 2 for 2!
  • Turned 24 years old. Alex got me all seasons of Doug and Rocko's Modern Life on DVD. Plus a metal Leaky Cauldron sign! Awesome! Rick, the volunteer from work, got me a pack of gum and gave me a hug. So thoughtful if you knew how much I chewed gum and how observant he had to be! I didn't really tell anyone else it was my birthday. Went to Mom's after work. PIGGED out on angel food cake and strawberries and whipped cream and spinach fettucini! Got my Canon 60D. Holy cow, it's amazing. Quiet, simple and all around great birthday.
  • Again, a nice, quiet Christmas Eve. Opened presents with Alex. He got me Beauty and the Beast on DVD plus tickets to see the Broadway play at the Landmark Theater in April!! A lovely lunch at Panera with Dad. Good, meaningful talks, as usual. Visited his new house. He appreciated my gifts because I put thought into them. I'm glad that was noticed. Spent time at Mom's. Went on a run with mom and the dogs. Saw 50 vultures. Playing around with my new camera. Watching everyone open the presents I got them! Now, at home snuggled on the couch watching Doug. Amazing.
  • A quiet Christmas as well. Had a great nights sleep alone, Alex was still in Newport News with his family. Cleaned the house, relaxed and finished season one of Doug in the morning. Then headed to Mom's again. Hung out, took Karl on a run again. Mom had to work so I headed back home. It snowed. Alex came home pretty late.
  • Saw True Grit as our last movie of 2010!
  • Got Netflix and a Roku box. So many movies and t.v. series and documentaries at our fingertips!
  • Watched kimjongilia, an amazing documentary about North Korea.
  • Alex's parents visited on their way home from South Carolina. Delicious dinner at Applebee's. Smokey came along. It felt right to have a dog in the house!
  • Paid for Coconut's vet bill and got bitched at by a Latina lady for implying she was poor.
  • Attended Combat with Jessica for the first time in a while, followed by a delicious lunch at Panera with her and Mom. With some not so delicious conversation about the girls, my dad, the divorce and the upcoming wedding that resulted in tears and us going our separate ways. Sigh, what else is new?
  • Applied for a Latin American analyst position for the Navy. Fingers crossed!
  • Applied for a museum technician position with the Smithsonian!
  • Sent my resume to the Fredericksburg office of Preservation Virginia.
    • Eh. Rejection. They aren't hiring and even if they were, all their workers are part-time. Won't do.
  • Explored Slaughter Pen Farm with Mom and the dogs. Took some pictures and had fun discovering a new place. Took Alex back the next day.
  • Got new running shoes. Hooray!
  • Catherine surprised me with a nice card and an awesome Dooney & Burke bag as a thank you for what I did for Coconut. So nice!
  • Finished the first three books in the Dark Tower series.
  • Saw The Fighter and 127 Hours with Alex. Both excellent!
  • Had a nice weekend alone. Alex was, unfortunately, gone for sad reasons, though. His grandmother is dying.
  • Saw Just Go With It with Alex. It was so-so!
  • Took Darla and Karl to Government Island with Mom. It was neat and we saw baby beavers.
