I haven't really had a "best friend" since my freshman year of high school and although I am a pretty solitary person and usually don't need constant companionship, sometimes I do long for one.

  • Spontaneity:
    • To force me to do things that I want to do but otherwise wouldn't, out of fear.
  • A similar love for many of my nerdy pursuits:
    • Including but not limited to: Lord of the Rings, ancient history & mythology, insects, sci-fi/fantasy novels, anime, Harry Potter, crafting, all things Disney & Pixar, classic movies.
  • A strong desire to travel and explore.
    • Willing to go discover abandoned buildings and vistas off the beaten path.
    • Will actually plan & save money to travel to other countries with me. So many people say that they want to go places but so few are willing to actually put in the time and effort to plan and do it. I need a friend who doesn't just talk about things but acts upon them.
  • A greater love for books than most human beings.
  • A greater love for animals than most human beings.
  • An understanding and acceptance of my strange ways.
  • To know what I'm thinking or feeling with just a look.
  • To counterbalance my faults.
  • A similar sense of humor.
    • Or a better sense of humor. Everyone can use more laughter in their lives.
  • A distaste for clubs, bars, getting drunk, etc.
  • It may sound silly, but I'd prefer a friend who was in a committed relationship or was, in general, the relationship type of person. I can't relate and don't want to relate to people who like to date around, casually hook-up and flirt a lot.
  • An affinity for healthy food.
    • So many social situations revolve around food and I often find myself the odd woman out because I don't indulge in a lot of unhealthy food.
  • Won't constantly contact me and want to hang out every day.
    • I need my alone time. A lot of it. So I need someone who understands that and wants it as much as I do.
  • Doesn't enjoy long phone conversations.
    • A quick call to meet up somewhere or say a few things is as much as I can stand.
  • A sense of adventure.
    • I want someone who will skydive with me, bungee jump with me, take a dance class with me; just someone to live life without reservations with.
  • Enjoys being physically active.
    • Running, hiking, etc.
  • Enjoys expressing themselves creatively.
    • I like to paint and draw and am willing and want to try all kinds of art forms but having someone who was interested in the same and would push me to try new things and get out of the creative slumps I get in sometimes would be awesome.
  • Optimism.
    • I can get down on myself quite easily. But I still try my hardest every day to be optimistic and positive so it would be great to have someone who only bolstered that positivity and kept me going.
  • Again, it may sound silly, but it would awesome to find someone who has also struggled with an eating disorder in the past.
    • I've yet to meet anyone I can talk to about it without them judging me and it would be nice to have a confidant when my relationship with food starts to grate on me.
  • Someone who is interested in or participates in circus arts.
    • The flying trapeze has become quite essential to my life as of late. I have been going to trapeze school for almost 8 months now and I would love to have a friend to train with, that shares my passion for contemporary circus and circus arts.
