- It allows me to better myself as a photographer by:
- Viewing the works of MUCH better photographers with MUCH better equipment.
- Getting to read compliments and critiques people leave on my photos.
- The art!
- Besides the obvious photographic art, Flickr is home to so many artists who work in tons of other mediums.
- I have found some of the most amazing paintings and drawings to marvel at and draw inspiration from.
- The craft ideas.
- Flickr is also home to so many creative crafters who have adorable ideas to make life more fun and aesthetically pleasing.
- It allows my photos to be seen by people who would otherwise never see them and as a result:
- I have had a photo published in a magazine.
- I have had 3 photos used for an online map company.
- It lets my family and friends who I don't see on a regular basis see what's going on in my life.
- And vice versa, if they have an account as well!
- It serves as a visual diary.
- It keeps memories fresh.
- It feeds my love and need for organization.
- Tagging photos, making sets & collections. Adding them to groups. Lovely!
- If I'm in a creative slump, browsing the talent on Flickr for a while will pull me right out of it.
- I'm always finding new work that gives me something to strive toward and set new goals in the creativity arena.
- It gives me a window into other lives and lifestyles. Other countries, cities, households and even couples & families.
- The ability to get to know people through their photos.
- Although I would much rather prefer the real thing, it allows me to travel the world. Far flung destinations, remote villages, tropical locales, you name it, someone has traveled there and taken a beautiful photo.
