• Mechanism to halt complement activation.

Disease:

• Strep throat (pharyngitis)-most common
• 2nd bacterial infection after flu
• Scarlet Fever
• Impetigo
• puerperal sepsis
• streptococcal toxic shock syndrome
• flesh eating bacterium-Necrotizing Fasciitis
• Tourette's syndrome
• autoimmue
  • rheumatic fever
  • glomuerolonephritis

Treatment:

• Very sensitive to penicillin, although new strains have shown resistance macrolides.
