Holidays

  • Cottage in Scotland.
    • Go crab fishing and explore the little villages. Have warm soups for tea with fresh, crusty bread and sit doing family activities in front of a fire.
  • Cottage in Devon/Cornwall.
    • Spend days by the beach boogie boarding and fossil hunting with picnics and umbrellas for shade.
  • Disneyland Paris.
    • Make it an experience for them to never forget. Try and teach the kids some French before you go.
  • Holidays with cousins.
    • Rent a big cabin/ cottage somewhere isolated and just bake tasty things and play.
  • Centre parks/ Oasis type holiday.
    • Just back to basics, getting out into the woods.
  • Staying at their grandparent's house.
  • Visit obscure countries and enjoy the customs.

Days

  • Day at the beach. If it's a bit chilly, take blankets.
  • Long walks or bike rides with flasks of fruit tea and soup.
  • Blackberry picking down in the woods.
  • Painting day; cover the floor in paper and go wild. Get covered.
  • Have water fights
  • Go to museums and draw pictures of exhibits.
  • Take pictures every day.
  • Bonfire night. Go and see a firework display then back home for sparklers and hot chocolate.
  • Spend days making blanket dens and forts.
  • Visit National trust places.

Christmas

  • Gingerbread houses
  • Walks in the winter frost
  • Have a kids tree they can decorate however they want in the family room.
  • Go Christmas shopping with children so they can pick presents. Help them wrap them.
  • Write letters to Father Christmas.
  • Put satsumas in the bottom of stockings.
  • Give small leather bound journals (commonplace books) each year.

Home

  • Have bookshelves lining the walls, full of inspiration.
  • Have a family dog to keep us all safe.
  • Music lessons.
  • Expose to real music.
  • Archery lessons.
  • Get a telescope and go star spotting.
