SNH48 (AKA Shanghai48) is a Chinese Idol Group and formerly the third international sister group of AKB48. The group has their own theater in Shanghai, China. The 1st generation members were announced in October, 2012. On June, 2016 it was announced that SNH48 and its sister groups became fully independent from AKB48. SNH48 are a Chinese idol group based in Shanghai, hence the name. As of 01/01/19, SNH48 has over 90 members spread across 4 teams (Team SII, Team NII, Team HII and Team X).
