Located in this park is Pitigliano, where 20 excavated ancient Etruscan paths wind throughout the volcanic cliff. A fortified citadel in the Middle Ages, the city is somewhat preserved with houses and underground cellars which, earlier, were used as tombs by the Etruscans. The paths, excavated 2,000 years ago, often lead to caves and niches. Maybe most interesting about Pitigliano is it's reputation as 'Little Jerusalem'; once a home for Jewish communities, the ghetto sector remains.
