• ~Bywater Museum of Unnatural History

The Bywater Museum of Unnatural History is so niche that it isn't even on the map. Conceptually designed in 2017, the collection found a home in 2019 at the Aquarium Gallery and Studios, but has sinced moved locations to a residential home, discernable by the sculptures and decorations that adorn the house. Local artists, crafters, and costumers have contributed to the wide array of artifacts housed in the front room gallery of the home, including over 40 detailed dioramas (one featuring a twinkie), taxidermied artwork, Liza Minnelli's cigarette. The museum is open most Sundays from 3-5:30, or by appointment.

  • ~Frenier Cemetery

Frenier cemetery is no ordinary burial ground. In 1915, Julia Brown- town healer, oracle, and rumored Voudou priestess- predicted that when she died, all of Frenier would go with her. This prediction came in the form of a song, one of many which she used to sing from the rocking chair on the porch of her cabin. After her husband, Celis, passed away, Julia became more reclusive until her death. After having shunned her their whole lives, the townspeople attended her funeral en masse- but the day after the ceremony, the New Orleans Hurricane of 1915 struck and every person in the town died (except for two who had been in a different area that day.) Survivors erected the cemetery and buried the townspeople in a mass grave. Julia Brown's grave lies about 100 years away. It is rumored that her spirit still haunts the area.
