★ mongsweets recreates ai video irl 🍚

notes:: ai can't seem to get the texture right in motion. it can make the object convincing visually but the actual slice and animation of it does not denote glass actually being cut, more like if it were pre-molded into it but without the seam. no shards, no momentum of the knife, and no chunks or uneven cuts with too little force expressed by the hands.

⊹ ai asmr examples:

the hand movement seems to be a common problem in these videos. for instance, in the keyboard asmr, the hands will look creepy because of how they float over things or in soap crushing asmr, apply a tiny amount of pressure only for something (that looks very solid) to shatter and collapse in their palm.

⊹ additional problems are:

  • pieces exploding randomly without any visible reason
  • objects changing into completely different objects
  • details suddenly going away or changing after a motion is applied (a stem disappears, something seems to be cut but isn't part of the slice, insides not matching outsides in translucent objects)
  • sounds not making sense or being out of sync,
  • nonsense text and symbols plus text and effects seeming to hover or an object like old CGI
  • 8 second video limit (veo), and so on
  • demonstrating issues:

the most value i can assign for choosing ai is the cost and time saving proposition of it and it's ability to create impossible scenarios. however, even those seem to suffer at times when it comes to getting the ai to understand what you want and how finicky the execution can be.

  • for example, i was almost impressed with this one as fire started licking out of the cut only to be let down as the inside didn't sizzle, burn, or steam at all, and the "lava" just looks like runny sauce and doesn't interact with the wooden cutting board. it's attempt to blend something normal with something fantastical leans too mundane.
  • the opposite problem happens here, where many of the other scenes in the video looked nice but this one looks like a snapchat filter thrown over yellow slime.

mong's video made me curious about how many impossible things can be convincing with the right lighting, textures, food coloring, and video edits. it also makes me wonder, how well would these scenarios look animated in blender?
