after an incident at home, namjoon is exiled by his father and gifted to king peleus, who sends him to live with his son in phthia. there, namjoon meets the infamous half-deity boy jeongguk, born of king peleus himself and a sea-nymph named thetis. but with a prophecy at play, namjoon soon realizes that if it is love he wants, he will have to fight to keep it.
“put your hand on my waist,” jeongguk says quietly.
“what?” namjoon says even as he obeys. jeongguk has his tuxedo jacket off now and his waist is small and tucked compared to the rest of his body.
“we’ve been looking moody over here,” jeongguk says, leaning closer to him. he plants a gentle kiss on namjoon’s cheek. it lingers, and things snap together in namjoon’s mind: they’ve been looking moody over here, and they should not be looking moody at their own wedding.
(namjoon and jeongguk get married.)
veteran beach volleyball player namjoon gets prodigy jungkook, a smitten fan, as a new teammate.
namjoon sits on a park bench, and hears someone on the other end singing one of his songs, wondering if he doesn't recognize him - that's when namjoon sees a white cane resting on the boy's thigh.
"are you worried?" jungkook asks quietly, his temple resting on the curve of Namjoon's shoulder. "that i will leave you."
" i am accustomed to people leaving."
"that isn't an answer."
pausing, namjoon takes in a long breath and stares up at the sky. te sun flickers through the crown of the tree they're laying beneath, casting freckles of light over the planes of his face. "i am afraid," he admits eventually, solemn and true.
“this is jeongguk, my dad-friend.”
“dad-friend?” namjoon repeats from jeongguk’s right.
“friend who is also a dad,” jeongguk says quietly.
namjoon’s eyes widen, but jimin didn’t hear jeongguk’s response, so he says much more loudly, “single dad solidarity club! that’s what we call ourselves.”
is that embarrassing? that’s embarrassing, right?
(jeongguk is a single dad, and namjoon is the prettiest person he's ever met.)
kim namjoon is a writer with particular habits. he takes the same train to work, monday to friday, and he always sits in the same place. he’s learned who gets off and where fairly well. his world is turned upside down one day when he finds someone else in his usual seat. it both upsets and intrigues him. he’s never seen this passenger before – and he thought he knew everyone's faces. so who is this boy? he decides, on a whim, to create his life story by simply observing him from afar.
namjoon writes songs for an indie garage band of other music majors and falls a little in love with the lead singer who always has a lollipop in his mouth.
“relax. i just want to talk a little. just talk,” kim namjoon kept his arms raised above his head and flashed a brief smile. a disarming smile, he hoped.
the man standing across from him didn’t let go of the gun he’d kept pointed at namjoon’s forehead since he stepped through the glass door into the bank, but he didn’t fire it either and namjoon thought that was a decent first step.
kim namjoon is the head of the behavioral analysis unit of the fbi. rookie jeon jungkook is eager to prove himself on his first case. the team is called in to investigate a series of shootings with a gruesome twist: each victim was killed by a poison tipped red bullet. but as they start to uncover the killer's profile, they receive taunting cipher messages from the killer. then the case turns personal when namjoon becomes the killer's newest obsession.
jeongguk doesn’t know why he’s so affected. the letter isn’t for him. it’s just another anonymous letter like the handful he delivered this morning, like he will in another few days. all those other letters he has read, none of them made him feel like this - like the midday city noises buzzing behind him have been dipped underwater, like everything is suddenly tinged blue, but somehow still so warm. like he could make five paintings from just one phrase, like he would make it all the same colour but it would be layered on so thick you could spend hours up close and never understand which brushstroke was the first and which was the last.
(or, jeongguk is the delivery boy for jimin and seokjin's love letter shop. one day he accidentally reads a letter that takes his breath away and sits so heavy in his heart that he makes it his mission to find the person who wrote it)
