- beautiful places-- they keep my thirst for the world open and i am motivated to go places, both literally and figuratively
- people who have been through any kind of major struggle-- these are just the strongest people i've ever heard of, to be able to face daily oppression and still keep your head up, still hope for better days. it keeps me optimistic that those days will finally come
- my friend hillary inspires me, because she's been through so many things and is still the goofiest, brightest soul i could ever meet.
- art inspires the hell out of me. i'll see something beautiful, and it sparks some very deep, indescribable emotions in me that i am always striving to express. however, my constant inability to do so is both frustrating and disheartening, while also eye-opening and motivating.
- music, most definitely. sound can give you so many things that words and actions never could. music reaches into your soul and grabs and stretches and extracts so many emotions i bet you didn't even knew existed within yourself. good music does that for me, anyway...
- oddly enough, history. as frought with oppression and exploitation and colonization and acts of extreme violence/domination as it is, it is morosely uplifting. gaining knowledge, as painful as it can be, is truly rewarding. it digusts me to the point where change becomes a demand, and i feel the need to be a part of that change. anne boleyn inspires me in particular, a revolutionary figure in history who was deeply misunderstood and discredited, but she was a brilliant political force and religious reformer and original feminist and general badass. completely underestimated, totally clever and savvy and just well educated and definitely respectable.
- people who have failed, or not really failed, but made mistakes or have fallen down, but have the courage to get back up and keep going. those are the people who make magic happen, and not in the sexy way, and they're just really inspiring.
