raising someone strictly christian is one of the most damaging and borderline if not straight-up traumatizing things a parent can do to their kid. you learn that you are and always will be a sinner before you know how to tie your shoelaces. you learn that love is fear, and respect is not something to be earned, but something simply given to people who will treat you like you're nothing. you learn that you're innately flawed, but that the purpose of your existence is to try not to be. those be damned who fail to believe what can never be proven. even at its roots, christianity is a system built with oppression, for oppressors. it isn't about waiting until marriage. it isn't about living a soft, selfless life. it isn't about good versus evil. it's control. it has always been control.
